Using the Checkbox Widget
The Checkbox widget lets you add an interactive checkbox element to a page or form to represent a selection choice. You
can assign an action to the element to be performed when the user selects the element and submits the form. You can
also change the element's appearance, including the text font family and size, text formatting within the element,
character spacing, and the element's layout on the page.
To place a Checkbox element on a page, drag the Checkbox widget from the Common section of the Widgets pane to the
Canvas. You can then resize, align, and arrange the element to fit your page design (for details, see "Working in the
Project Editor" on page 154).
To customize the Checkbox element, select the element on the page or in the Page Outline pane, as shown in Figure 9-7
on page 247. The Properties pane for the element appears on the right side of the Project Editor.
To give the Checkbox element an informational label to represent the selection choice, enter the label in the Text field in
the General tab at the top of the Properties pane. If you want the checkbox to be selected by default when the user views
the form, then under the Text field, select the Checked checkbox.
You can customize the element by changing properties in the Properties pane:
• The General tab lets you define the element's name, optional ID, label text, and default selection state. For details,
see "Changing General Properties" on page 197.
• The Appearance tab lets you set the element's background, border, and opacity, and add a reflection and shadow
to the element. For details, see "Changing Appearance Properties" on page 198.
