Tracking Page Elements
To track a page element, you must first enable project tracking, see "About Tracking" on page 375, and page tracking,
see "Tracking Pages" on page 378.
To track any single element on the page:
1. Select the page element, and then on the General tab of the Properties pane, click the Track in Analytics checkbox,
as shown in Figure 18-1 on page 379.
You can control some basic attribute values for each event that Google Analytics tracks (object, action, label). A
5ml user can modify:
• Label–Enter text to change the string reported to Google Analytics for the event label.
• Category–Enter text to change the string reported to Google Analytics for the event object.
• Event Name–Enter text to change the string reported to Google Analytics for event action.
For more information about Google Analytics event tracking semantics, see
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/eventTrackerGuide.
2. You need to add an event and action to the page element to determine what to track; see "Changing Behavior
Properties" on page 223.
