Locking and Unlocking Page Elements<br />

The Page Outline pane includes a lock/unlock element icon which allows you to lock an element to its current position on<br />

the canvas. Some elements are parent elements, for example, the Container element. In the case of a parent element,<br />

you can lock or unlock at the parent level or at the child element level. For example, Figure 7-1 on page 185 shows the<br />

Container element unlocked, the parent element, and two Image elements, one locked and the other unlocked. Both<br />

Image elements are child elements of the Container element. The first Image element, being unlocked can be manually<br />

moved to another position on the page as shown Figure 7-1 on page 185. The second Image element being locked cannot<br />

be moved. When a parent element is locked so are all of its child elements.<br />

To lock a page element:<br />

1. Select the page element either on the Canvas on in the Page Outline pane.<br />

2. Click on the lock/unlock ( ) icon located in the Page Outline's middle column.<br />

The lock/unlock icon no longer appears and the element is locked on the Canvas and cannot be manually moved<br />

on the Canvas.<br />

To unlock a page element:<br />

1. On the Page Outline, click in the lock/unlock column to the left of the element.<br />

The lock/unlock (<br />

) icon appears and the element is unlocked on the Canvas and can be manually moved.<br />
