<strong>2007</strong> <strong>National</strong> <strong>Roadside</strong> <strong>Survey</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Alcohol</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Drug</strong> <strong>Use</strong> <strong>by</strong> <strong>Drivers</strong>: <strong>Drug</strong> ResultsReported Contact with the Health System (Oral Fluid)As indicated in previous reports on the <strong>2007</strong> NRS, questions relating to the criminal sanctions fordrinking <strong>and</strong> drug use while driving were added to the survey items, as well as questions relatedto treatment for drug <strong>and</strong> alcohol use. These questions were added to the survey to investigatepotential intervention opportunities.As shown in Table 65, less than 1 percent <strong>of</strong> daytime drivers responded “Yes” to the question,“During the past 12 months, did you ever stay at least overnight in an inpatient or residentialdrug or alcohol treatment program?” Of these, almost 45 percent were drug positive.Table 65. Of these, 38.4 percent were drugpositive.17 AA is <strong>Alcohol</strong>ics Anonymous <strong>and</strong> NA is Narcotics Anonymous.69
