(f) a person related to <strong>the</strong> employee by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander kinshipstructures.1. "relative" means a person related by blood, marriage or affinity;2. "affinity" means a relationship that one spouse because of marriage has to blood relatives of<strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r; and3. "household" means a family group living in <strong>the</strong> same domestic dwelling.11. Carer’s LeaveUp to four consecutive days of personal leave can be taken in succession without a certificatefor carer’s leave.12. Paid Maternity Leavea) Ongoing (permanent) employees with one year of service with Woden CommunityService shall be entitled to six weeks paid maternity leave.b) For medical reasons, <strong>the</strong> employee may access personal leave credits to supplementpaid maternity leave providing a medical certificate is provided.13. Leave in Exceptional Circumstances14. Study Leavec) O<strong>the</strong>r leave may be granted, having regard to <strong>the</strong> operational needs of WCS. Theintention of o<strong>the</strong>r leave is to provide flexibility for WCS and its employees, inexceptional circumstances where personal or recreation leave is not available.d) Examples include responding as a volunteer to community emergencies andexceptional family emergencies.e) This leave in exceptional circumstances may be paid or unpaid. Any such leavegranted does not form a precedent for o<strong>the</strong>r leave decisions.f) Each ongoing employee will be entitled to up to 10 days paid study leave per calendaryear to engage in study directly related to <strong>the</strong>ir current job.g) Study leave will be pro-rata, according to standard hours worked per week, and mustbe for study directly related to <strong>the</strong> employee’s current job.h) Study leave must be approved by <strong>the</strong> Program Manager in consultation with <strong>the</strong> HRManager.i) Leave Without Pay may also be accessed, for study leave in accordance with LWOPprovisions, see below.15. Organisational Healthj) WCS will monitor, analyse and report on organisational health matters. WCS’s TeamLeadership Group (TLG) will over sight <strong>the</strong> provision and analysis of demographicdata.
