22.2 An employee directed by his/her employer to install a telephone at his/her home shall bereimbursed 50 per cent of the cost of installation at the commencement of employmentand the remaining 50 per cent after twelve months of service.22.3 An employee directed to have a telephone at his/her home for business purposes shallbe reimbursed 100 per cent of the rental costs until the employer advises the employeein writing that he/she is no longer required to use the telephone for business purposes.PART 5.LEAVE23. PERSONAL LEAVEThe provisions of this clause apply to full-time and part-time employees, but do not apply tocasual employees, except in respect of Clauses 23.5.3 and 23.5.4, both of which apply to allemployees.23.1 Amount of paid personal leave23.1.1 Paid personal leave will be available to an employee when they are absent due to:• personal illness or injury (sick leave); or• for the purposes of caring for an immediate family or household memberwho is sick and requires the employee’s care and support (carer’s leave), orin cases of unexpected emergency; or• because of bereavement on the death of an immediate family or householdmember (bereavement leave).23.1.2 The amount of personal leave to which an employee is entitled depends on howlong he or she has worked for the employer and accrues as follows:23.1.2(a)Eighteen days will be available in the first year of service;23.1.3 In any year unused personal leave accrues by the lesser of:23.1.3(a)23.1.3(b)23.1.3(c)Fifteen days less the amount of sick leave and carer’s leave taken during theyear; orthe balance of that year’s unused personal leave.There shall be no payment of portions of leave not taken, on retirement ortermination.23.1.4 An employee must take all reasonable steps to provide his/her employer with theearliest possible notice of his/her absence from work.23.1.5 Personal Leave will accrue nominally either every pay period, provided that thepay period does not exceed four weeks, or for every four weeks of service23.1.6 Accrual and Crediting of paid Personal Leave will be in accordance with theNational Employment Standards.Community Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2009
23.2 Immediate family or household23.2.1 The entitlement to carer’s or bereavement leave is subject to the person in respectof whom the leave is taken being either:23.2.1(a)23.2.1(b)a member of the employee’s immediate family; ora member of the employee’s household.23.2.2 The term immediate family includes:23.2.2(a)23.2.2(b)A spouse (including a former spouse, a de facto spouse and a former defacto spouse) of the employee. A de facto spouse, in relation to a person,means a person who lives with the first mentioned person as the partner ofthat person on a bona fide domestic basis although not legally married tothat person and includes same-sex partners; andchild or an adult child (including an adopted child, a step child or an exnuptialchild), parent, grandparent, grandchild or sibling of the employee orspouse of the employee.23.3 Sick leave23.3.1 An employee is entitled to use up to fifteen days of the current year’s personalleave entitlement as sick leave in the first year of service and fifteen days in thesecond and subsequent years of service.23.3.2 An employee is entitled to use accumulated personal leave for the purposes ofsick leave where the current year’s sick leave entitlement has been exhausted.23.3.3 Sick leave for more than three consecutive days requires the production of amedical certificate23.3.4 If the full period of sick leave as described above is not taken in any year, suchportion as is not taken shall be cumulative from year to year. There shall be nopayment of portions of leave not taken, on retirement or termination.23.3.5 Part day absencesFor the purpose of calculating deductions from sick leave accruals whereemployees taking such leave are absent for part of a day, the following procedureshall be used:23.3.5(a)23.3.5(b)Leave credits should be converted into hours on the basis of an eight hourday; andLeave taken to the nearest quarter of an hour, should then be deducted fromthis total.23.3.6 Sickness on programmed day offWhere an employee is sick or injured on the weekday they are to take off inaccordance with clause 7 or 8 he/she shall not be entitled to sick pay nor willCommunity Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2009
