f) The part-time equivalent of <strong>the</strong> full-time leave entitlement may be taken.However, <strong>the</strong> manner in which <strong>the</strong> leave is taken must be approved by <strong>the</strong>Management Committee prior to <strong>the</strong> commencement of <strong>the</strong> leave. After <strong>the</strong>leave has commenced, alteration to <strong>the</strong> manner in which <strong>the</strong> leave is taken mayonly occur in exceptional circumstances and upon negotiation and agreement ata Management Committee meeting.g) For <strong>the</strong> purposes of <strong>the</strong> clause periods of leave without pay do not break but arenot counted towards continuous service.h) In considering an application for paid parental leave <strong>the</strong> ManagementCommittee shall have regard to <strong>the</strong> funds available for a replacement workerduring <strong>the</strong> term of <strong>the</strong> leave, and <strong>the</strong> necessity of employing a replacement forthat period.4. STUDY LEAVEa) At <strong>the</strong> discretion of <strong>the</strong> Management Committee, an employee may take up to75 hours per Semester paid study leave for a course which is not availableoutside office hours and which is of reasonable benefit to <strong>the</strong> work of <strong>the</strong>Union. This leave entitlement is calculated on <strong>the</strong> basis of an employee takingup to 5 hours per week study leave over a 15 week Semester period. However,this leave can be taken as required, so long as <strong>the</strong> amount taken does notexceed <strong>the</strong> maximum of 75 hours per Semester.b) Study leave can only be taken for <strong>the</strong> purposes of attending lectures and examsor carrying out study in relation to <strong>the</strong> approved course.c) Study leave may also be granted for up to 5 hours per week for <strong>the</strong> weeksbetween Semesters if a need for this leave is demonstrated.d) At <strong>the</strong> discretion of <strong>the</strong> Management Committee, on <strong>the</strong> advice of staff, studyleave may be granted for short courses of up to 5 days duration.5. JURY SERVICEa) An employee shall be entitled to leave to attend jury service.b) During such leave of absence, an employee shall be paid <strong>the</strong> differencebetween <strong>the</strong> jury service fees received and <strong>the</strong> employee’s normal rate of pay,for a period of up to 10 days.6. LONG SERVICE LEAVEa) Employees are entitled to 13 weeks after 10 years service, and able to accesson a pro rata basis at 5 years. This accumulates at a rate of 1.3 weeks per year.An employee shall be entitled to pro rata long service leave after five yearsservice, such leave to be taken by mutual agreement between <strong>the</strong> employee and<strong>the</strong> employer.Community Sector Multiple Business Agreements 2006
