Specialised practitioners carry out a broad range of activities orfunctions using relevant practices and procedures within a comprehensive field of work orspecialised/professional discipline. This role can provide advice to others on aspects of thefield or discipline and can be expected to apply that in an original and innovative manner toactivities of the work area. This role may include the supervision of otherspecialised/professional staff and staff from other fields of work.Professional specialist means an employee who has an in depth knowledge of and isacknowledged as an authority by senior management and peers in a field of work, specialiseddiscipline or range of disciplines. SCHEDULE C: CLASSIFICATION STRUCTURE1. COMMUNITY SERVICES WORKER LEVEL 1Characteristics of the levelA person employed as a community services worker level 1 shall work under close directionand undertake routine activities which require the practical application of basic skills andtechniques.General features of work in this category consist of performing clearly defined activities withoutcomes being readily attainable. Employees' duties at this level will be closely monitoredwith instruction and assistance being readily available.Freedom to act is limited by standards and procedures. However, with experience, employeesat this level may have sufficient freedom to exercise judgement in the planning of his/her ownwork within those confines.Positions at this level will involve employees in extensive on-the-job training includingfamiliarisation with the goals and objectives of the workplace.Employees will be responsible for the time management of his/her work and required to usebasic numeracy, written and verbal communication skills.Supervision of other staff or volunteers is not a feature at this level, however an experiencedemployee may have technical oversight of a minor work activity.At this level, employers are expected to offer substantial internal and/or external training.ResponsibilitiesTo contribute to the operation objectives of the work areas, a position at this level mayinclude some of the following inputs or those of a similar value:• Undertake routine activities of a clerical and/or support nature;• Undertake straightforward operation of keyboard equipmentincluding data input and basic word processing at a basic level;• Provide routine information including general reception and telephonist duties;• Provide general stenographic duties;• Apply established practices and procedures;• Undertake routine office duties involving filing and maintenance of an existingrecords system.Requirements of the jobSome or all of the following are needed to perform work at this level.Community Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2009
