special leave must be applied for in writing and approved by <strong>the</strong> Executive Officer. Access tospecial leave is not automatic and will be approved for 'special situations' including:7. Cultural Leave• Moving house;• Attending funeral of an immediate or extended family member, and;• Any o<strong>the</strong>r circumstance deemed by <strong>the</strong> supervisor to meet <strong>the</strong> criteria ofspecial leave.Every reasonable effort will be made to accommodate <strong>the</strong> special religious and culturalobservances not covered by standard MHCC leave provisions. Requests must be received inwriting for approval by <strong>the</strong> Executive Officer.8. Christmas ShutdownThe MHCC will close all offices for <strong>the</strong> period between Christmas and New Year. Staff willbe given paid leave at normal pay. This is in addition to annual leave entitlements.9. Public Holiday leaveAll MHCC staff will be entitled to <strong>the</strong> full public holiday leave allocation, (and not pro-rata)irrespective of hours worked on each day, or if <strong>the</strong> day was a normal working day.
