D3 Beryl Women IncThe following additional terms are only binding on Beryl Women Inc and <strong>the</strong> employees ofBeryl Women Inc1. Long Service LeaveThe Long Service Leave Act (ACT) 1976 as amended applies in its full content, definitionsand interpretation, aside from <strong>the</strong> more generous entitlements which Beryl Inc undertakes toprovide its employees. These are depicted below:Long service leave is accrued at one week for each year of service. A permanent part-timeemployee may be paid long service leave entitlements on resignation or termination after aperiod of five years continuous service, payable at <strong>the</strong> current rate of pay. An employee maytake accumulated Long Service Leave after 5 years of service.In <strong>the</strong> case of having to permanently leave employment due to a permanent disability, (relatedor unrelated to a work incident) <strong>the</strong> employee will be eligible for Long Service Leave after 3years of service. The payment will be calculated on a pro rata basis.2. Parental/Maternity LeaveAfter twelve months continuous service, parents are entitled to a combined total of 52 weeksunpaid parental leave on a shared basis in relation to <strong>the</strong> birth or adoption of <strong>the</strong>ir child, ofwhich six weeks maternity leave shall be paid, and two weeks of co-parent leave shall bepaid. For an employee who is <strong>the</strong> mo<strong>the</strong>r, maternity leave may be taken and forpartners/spouses, co-parent leave may be taken. Adoption leave may be taken in <strong>the</strong> case ofadoption.3. Public HolidaysIn addition to <strong>the</strong> public holidays mentioned in <strong>the</strong> MBA, Beryl undertakes to provide <strong>the</strong>irpermanent full-time and part-time employees with additional public holidays on InternationalWomen’s Day and Naidoc day. To be eligible to take <strong>the</strong> days off as a public holiday, <strong>the</strong>part-time employees must be contracted or rostered to be working on <strong>the</strong> requisite days.4. Cultural LeaveWhere <strong>the</strong>re is a commitment for an employee to attend a cultural function or ceremony, up tothree days paid leave per annum, and <strong>the</strong>n ten days unpaid leave maybe granted, withconsultation and approval of <strong>the</strong> Manager. Cultural Leave is not accruable.5. Broadbanding1.1. Broadbanding – Community Support Worker Grade 4 - 51.1.1. Beryl Inc recognises <strong>the</strong> importance of career paths for community support workers,and that <strong>the</strong> award classification structure reproduced in <strong>the</strong> Community SectorMultiple Business Agreement (Australian Capital Territory), may not adequatelyreward experienced community support workers. This Memorandum ofUnderstanding recognises that an experienced Community support worker level 4may possess <strong>the</strong> skills required for employment at Level 5, even though <strong>the</strong>re is not aCommunity Sector Multiple Business Agreements 2006
