6.8.4 When offering employment on a fixed term basis to a job applicant, <strong>the</strong> employershall advise <strong>the</strong>m in writing of <strong>the</strong> temporary nature of <strong>the</strong> employment, <strong>the</strong> actualor expected duration of employment, and that employment beyond <strong>the</strong> period isnot expected.6.8.5 If a fixed term employee is subsequently appointed to a permanent position with<strong>the</strong> employer, any period of <strong>the</strong> fixed term contract completed immediately priorto <strong>the</strong> commencement of <strong>the</strong> permanent position shall be recognised as servicewith <strong>the</strong> employer for <strong>the</strong> purpose of calculating leave entitlements, provided that<strong>the</strong> employee has not taken or received payment in lieu of any leave entitlements.6.8.6 The employer and a fixed term employee may agree to <strong>the</strong> duration of <strong>the</strong> periodof employment being extended once only. In such a case, <strong>the</strong> employee shall beemployed as a full-time or part-time employee under <strong>the</strong> terms of this agreement.6.9 Replacement employees6.9.1 A replacement employee means an employee engaged for a specific period oftime to replace a designated person.6.9.2 The period of time for which <strong>the</strong> employee is engaged toge<strong>the</strong>r with any o<strong>the</strong>rspecial conditions of employment shall be confirmed in writing at <strong>the</strong> time ofappointment.6.9.3 A replacement employee shall be engaged and paid as ei<strong>the</strong>r a full-time, part-timeor casual employee subject to <strong>the</strong> provisions and definitions of this clause.7. HOURS OF WORK7.1 Full-time employees7.1.1 Subject to <strong>the</strong> provisions of this agreement, <strong>the</strong> ordinary working hours ofemployees o<strong>the</strong>r than casual and part-time employees shall be an average of 38hours per week to be worked on one of <strong>the</strong> following basis:7.1.1(a)7.1.1(b)7.1.1(c)7.1.1(d)38 hours within a work cycle not exceeding seven consecutive days; or76 hours within a work cycle not exceeding fourteen consecutive days; or114 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 21 consecutive days; or152 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 28 consecutive days.7.1.2 Except as provided in paragraph 7.1.3 and subclause 7.3, ordinary working hoursshall be worked between <strong>the</strong> hours of 7.00am and 7.00pm on Monday to Fridayinclusive and shall not exceed eight hours a day on any such day.7.1.3 Employees may be required to work between <strong>the</strong> hours of 7.00am and 7.00pmMonday to Friday inclusive and between <strong>the</strong> hours of 7.00am and 12 noon onSaturday. In this case, ordinary hours worked shall not exceed eight hours on anyday from Monday to Friday inclusive and four hours on Saturday.Community Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2009
