7.5.1 All day shift employees shall receive two clear days off each week.7.5.2 All night shift employees shall receive two clear nights off each week providedthat during any working period not exceeding three consecutive weeks, <strong>the</strong> nightoff may, with <strong>the</strong> approval of <strong>the</strong> employer, be allowed to stand over and be takenat a time mutually agreed upon in any one period of consecutive nights.8. SHIFT WORK8.1 Definitions8.1.1 "Afternoon shift" shall mean a completed rostered shift of any number of hourscommencing at or after 11.00am and finishing at or after 7.30pm on <strong>the</strong> same day.8.1.2 "Night shift" shall mean a completed rostered shift worked between <strong>the</strong> hours of7.30pm and 8.00am inclusive and finishing at or after 12 midnight.8.1.3 "Programmed day off" shall mean <strong>the</strong> entitlement to a day off accrued inaccordance with subclause 7.3.8.1.4 "Rostered day off" shall mean <strong>the</strong> normal days off duty provided for inaccordance with <strong>the</strong> roster in subclause 7.5.8.1.5 The "work cycle of a full-time employee" shall mean ei<strong>the</strong>r:8.1.5(a)8.1.5(b)8.1.5(c)8.1.5(d)For an employee working not more than eight ordinary hours on each shift,152 hours within a work cycle not exceeding 28 consecutive days. In such acase, no full-time employee shall be required to work more than 80 ordinaryhours per fortnight; orFor an employee working extended night shifts of between eight and tenordinary hours each, 760 hours within a cycle not exceeding 140consecutive days.Where staff rotate through day, afternoon and extended night shifts, <strong>the</strong>ordinary hours of duty shall be worked by a combination of <strong>the</strong> provisionsof this subclause.All time worked in excess of eight hours on a rostered extended night shiftshall be credited towards a programmed day off.8.1.6 "Day shift" shall mean a shift that commences earlier than twelve noon andfinished at or before 7.00pm.8.2 Hours8.2.1 The ordinary hours of work shall be an average of 38 per week to be workedaccording to roster and in accordance with paragraph 7.1.1.Community Sector Multiple Enterprise Agreement 2009
