TroubleshootingOPENING A STANDARD B.A.S.I.S. LOCK WITH DEAD BATTERIESIf you were not able to replace the batteries before they died in astandard B.A.S.I.S. Lock and you cannot unlock the lock, you canprovide temporary power to the lock and use a valid card or PIN tounlock it. Then, you can access the lock’s battery compartment toreplace the battery pack.1. To provide temporary power to the lock, connect the programmingcable, with an external battery pack connected, to the lock’scommunication port. Although the serial cable and PDA do not needto be connected to the programming cable, it will not cause aproblem if they are connected.Communication portProgramming cableBattery packFigure 12.2Connecting the programming cable to the lock2.
