Preparing the door and door jambInstallation Instructions for B.A.S.I.S. Mortise Locks5 Mortise for strike box and strike plate1 On the door jamb, locate the horizontal centerline ofthe strike (3/8″ above the centerline of the lock), aswell as the vertical centerline of the strike.2 Mortise the door jamb to fit the strike box and strikeplate.3 Drill the holes for the screws used to install the strikebox and strike plate.Figure 5Door jambMortising the door jamb for the strike box andstrike plate6 Install mortise case1 Remove the faceplate from the mortise case.2 Drill the holes for the case mounting screws.3 Insert the mortise case into the mortise cavity, whilefeeding the sensor and motor wires into the mortisecavity and out the sensor & motor wire hole to theinside of the door.Note: If the armored front of the mortise case is not flushwith the door edge, remove the case and loosen thescrews at the top and bottom of the case. Adjust thebevel of the armored front of the mortise case to matchthe bevel of the door.
