Cylindrical LocksTrim hole insertsBushingsInstalling the lock10 Remove backup battery tabCaution 1: For the lock to operate properly, youmust remove the backup battery tab.Caution 2: Do not connect the battery pack beforeyou have removed the backup battery tab. Doingso may cause the lock to malfunction.1 Locate the backup battery tab on the inside of theoutside escutcheon.2 Pull down on the tab and remove it from the outsideescutcheon to turn on the backup battery.Figure 11HubHub washersInstalling the trim hole inserts, bushings, andhub washersBattery connectorMotor connectorUpgradeconnectorHarness holeOutside escutcheon11 Install trim hole inserts, bushings, andhub washers1 Insert the two trim hole inserts into the upper trimhole on each side of the door, as shown in Figure 11.2 Insert the two bushings into the harness hole on eachside of the door, as shown in Figure 11.3 On each side of the door, slide a hub washer over thechassis sleeve so it rests on the hub.12 Route wire harness and positionoutside escutcheon1 From the outside of the door, feed the upgradeconnector, and then the motor connector and batteryconnector, through the harness hole.Caution: When routing the connectors, make surethe wire harness is not routed across any sharpedges or over any surface that could damage itssleeving or wire insulation.2 Temporarily rest the outside escutcheon on the doorby inserting the trim studs into the trim holes.Note: You can temporarily install the outside lever tohold the outside escutcheon in place. Installing the lock13 Make motor connectionFrom the inside of the door, connect the motorconnector from the chassis to its mating connector onthe wire harness.Note 1: The upgrade cable is used for reprogrammingthe lock’s firmware without removing the lock from thedoor.This cable does not connect to a mating lock connector.Note 2: The motor connection has 2 wires and 2 pins.The wire colors are yellow and gray.Caution: When making the motor connection,make sure:■ there are no loose wire connections where thewires are inserted into the connectors■ the connectors are firmly mated.Installation Instructions for B.A.S.I.S.
