Helen (Louis) Vyhnalek, Martin Kushner Jr., and Eleanor (Mark) Houston. Carol was a<br />
registered nurse. She volunteered wherever she was needed. Always helping those in<br />
need, Carol was particularly helpful to many residents of her apartment building. A<br />
memorial service will be held on Saturday June 8, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Coats Funeral<br />
Home, Waterford, Mich. Family will receive friends Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. Memorial<br />

BENDAS, Mary (Lazeration)<br />
Mrs. Mary (Lazeration) Bendas, 86, of Altoona and formerly of Ginter, passed away at<br />
6:10 PM, Thursday, January 21, 2010 at the Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona<br />
Hospital Campus. She was born on Sept. 12, 1923, in Ginter a daughter of the late<br />
Stephen and Anna (Lashinsky) Lazeration. Mrs. Bendas was a life member of St. Mary's<br />
Ukrainian Catholic Church, Ramey and along with her sister, Christine, was co-owner<br />
and operator of the former Cold Stream Coffee Shop in Philipsburg. On Aug. 17, 1946, in<br />
New York City, she married Steven Bendas, he preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1984.<br />
Mrs. Bendas is survived <strong>by</strong> 6 siblings, Christine Bendos of Altoona, Frank Lazeration<br />
and his wife Mary of Houtzdale, John Lazeration and his wife Esther of Ginter, Madlyn<br />
Kechisen of Twinsburg, OH., Paul Lazeration and his wife Joann of Linden, NJ and Ann<br />
Daniel and her husband Paul of RD Houtzdale. She is also survived <strong>by</strong> a number of<br />
nieces and nephews. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> a<br />
bother, George Lazeration and three sisters, Susan Wasilko, Kathryn Lazeration and<br />
Helen Bankosky. Friends will be received on Sunday, Jan. 24, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and<br />
on Monday, Jan. 25 from 9-10:30 AM in the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc. Ramey. Parastas<br />
will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM in the funeral home <strong>by</strong> Fr. Anthony Balistreri. Funeral<br />
Services on Monday, Jan. 25, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church,<br />
Ramey, with Fr. Anthony Balistreri officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's<br />

BEREZANSKY, Bohdanna (Danyliw)<br />
WATERVLIET - Bohdanna A. Berezansky, 87, died Sunday, December 12, 2010 at<br />
Evergreen Commons in East Greenbush with her family at her side. Born in the Ukraine<br />
on May 3, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Wolodymyr<br />
and Stefania Czajkiwska Danyliw. In the Ukraine, Mrs. Berezansky<br />
was a kindergarten teacher. She married her beloved husband<br />
Michael on September 27, 1948 in Poland. She came to the United<br />
States in December, 1964 and settled in Watervliet. She was<br />
employed <strong>by</strong> O'Brien's Dress Factory in Watervliet as a seamstress,<br />
Albany Felt Co. in Menands and last for many years <strong>by</strong> Tek Hughes<br />
in Watervliet before retiring. In her retirement, Mrs. Berezansky<br />
would ba<strong>by</strong>sit her grandchildren and looked after all the kids in her<br />
neighborhood on 11th Avenue in Watervliet where she was<br />
affectionately known as "Baba". She enjoyed cooking, baking, crossstitch,<br />
gardening and feeding all the kids in the neighborhood. She was a faithful<br />
communicant of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Watervliet and was a member<br />
of the Ukrainian Women's League and participated in all of the functions of the church.
