BERZONSKY, Fannie (Pohlid)<br />

Mrs. Fannie Berzonsky,103 of Ramey died Saturday evening Aug 26, 1995 at<br />

Philipsburg Area Hospital. She was born April 15, 1892 in the Ukraine, the daughter of<br />

the late George and Anna (Luciew) Pohlid. She married Wasyl Berzonsky. He died June<br />

24, 1963. Mrs. Berzonsky was a member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church,<br />

Janesville. She was a homemaker. Surviving are five sons; Mike and John both of<br />

Smithmill, Peter of Frederick, Md., and Stanley and Sam both of Ramey; two daughters:<br />

Ann Petrovich of Danville, Va., and Mary Magensky of Akron, Ohio; 15 grandchildren<br />

and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> four sons; Frank, Harry, Metro<br />

and George. Friends will be received from 2 to four and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to<br />

9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kruise Funeral Home, Ramey. ( The Mirror, Altoona, Pa.,<br />

BERZONSKY, John<br />

John Berzonsky, 99, of Smithmill passed away, on Saturday, February 8, 2014. Born on<br />

June 24, 1914, in Glen Campbell, he was the son of Wasyl and Fenia (Pohlid) Berzonsky<br />

who preceded him in death. In his younger years, Mr. Berzonsky attended classes at Penn<br />

State College for Mineral Industries. He received numerous certificates of competency<br />

and qualification from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Mines during<br />

his tenure with various coal companies. He retired from coal mining and then worked as a<br />

Foreman for the Pennsylvania Department of Highways, retiring in 1976. He was a<br />

member of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Smithmill, where he held several<br />

offices in his lifetime; a member of the United Mine Workers Local 1520 for over 60<br />

years; an avid fisherman and gardener; and a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and<br />

Steelers. Mr. Berzonsky was married to Ann (Moskel) Berzonsky who preceded him in<br />

death on August 5, 2002. He is survived <strong>by</strong> two daughters, Gail (Robert "Dee") Albert,<br />

Palm Coast, FL; Karen (John) Lyle, Vero Beach, FL; three grandchildren, Kara (Allen)<br />

Hicks, Great Falls, VA; Ashley Lyle and Brenton Lyle both of Los Angeles, CA; three<br />

great-grandchildren, Weston, Garrett and Hadley Hicks; one brother, Stanley Berzonsky,<br />

Ramey; two sisters, Ann Petrovich, Danville, VA; and Mary Magensky, Akron, OH and<br />

numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> his parents, his wife, infant<br />

son, John, and seven brothers, Frank, Harry, George, Metro, Michael, Pete and Samuel.<br />

Friends will be received at Kruise Funeral Homes, Inc., Ramey on Monday, February 10,<br />

from 4-8 PM and on Tuesday, February 11, from 9-10:15 AM at which time Panachida<br />

will be sung. Liturgy will follow at 11 AM in St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church,<br />

Smithmill, with Fr. George Hnatko as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church<br />

cemetery. Donations in memory of John Berzonsky may be made to the Perpetual Care<br />

Trust of St. Vladimir's Ukrainian Orthodox Church c/o Mr. David Zazworsky, 1100<br />

Orthodox Church, Smithmill, for Michael "Mike" Berzonsky, 91, of Smithmill, who died<br />

Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 3:30 p.m., at Philipsburg Area Hospital. Father Paul
