attended the George Washington University in Washington D.C. and for a number of<br />
years resided in District Heights, Md. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict<br />
and was a member of the Maryland VFW, the American Legion and the Disabled<br />
American Veterans. He was a Ukrainian Catholic <strong>by</strong> faith. He is survived <strong>by</strong> these<br />
brothers and sisters, Basil of Barnesboro, Frank and John, both of Madera, George of<br />
Clearfield, Peter of Blue Jay, Calif., Mrs. Catherine Bartosh and Mrs. George (Irene)<br />
Jones, both of Houtzdale, Mrs. Mary Boone of Fostoria, Ohio, Mrs. Herbert (Annie)<br />
Hawkins of Glen Hope and Mrs. Joseph (Stella) of Hastings and a number of nieces and<br />
nephews. He was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> his parents, four brothers and one sister.<br />
HOLOBINKO, Wasco<br />
THURSDAY, JULY 3, 1941 Miner, 63, Drowns Near Madera Accidental death <strong>by</strong><br />
drowning was the verdict today in the death of Wasco Holobinko, 63, coal miner from<br />
Banion, near Madera, whose body was found Tuesday afternoon in Clearfield creek near<br />
there. Townspeople searched for him Tuesday when it was discovered he had not been<br />
seen since Sunday. Walter Moore, Madera, Tuesday afternoon saw Holobinko's body<br />
floating face down in his mill race. The suction of the watermill had drawn the body into<br />
the race. It was theorized that the miner had accidentally fallen into the creek.<br />

HOLOBINKO - Wasco Basil "Archie," 83, Northern Cambria, died Feb. 24, 2002, at<br />
home. Born May 21, 1918, in Madera, son of Wasco and Anna (Dyord) Holobinko.<br />
Preceded in death <strong>by</strong> parents; wife, former Alice Rosinko, in 1999; brothers, John,<br />
Andrew, Mike, Sam and Frank; sister, Stella Anna; an infant sister; and two infant<br />
brothers. Survived <strong>by</strong> brothers and sisters, Catherine Bartosh, Rahway, N.J.; Mary<br />
Boone, Fostoria, Ohio; Irene Jones, Houtzdale; Ann Hawkins, Glen Hope; George,<br />
Clearfield; and Peter Hall, Banning, Calif. Also survived <strong>by</strong> several nieces and nephews.<br />
Retired coal miner from Barnes & Tucker Co. Member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic<br />
Church. Friends received from 7 to 9p.m. Tuesday at Long-Contres Funeral Home Inc.,<br />

be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed <strong>by</strong> funeral of Divine<br />
Liturgy at 10 a.m. at St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, the Rev. Donald Valasek.<br />

Economy - William B. Holobinko, 86, of Economy, died Thursday, May 19, 2005, in St.<br />
John's Lutheran Care Home, Mars. Born Sept. 8, 1918, in Beccaria, Pa., a son of the late<br />
Harry and Mary Russin Holobinko, he was retired from the American Bridge Co. He was<br />
a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the<br />
Ambridge Sportsman's Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. In<br />
addition to his parents, he was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> his wife, Margaret (Pahach)<br />
Holobinko; two brothers, John and Walter Holobinko, and three sisters, Anna Narbesky,<br />
Kathryn Pulsney and Julia Fencik. He is survived <strong>by</strong> a brother and sister-in-law,<br />
