high school in Robertsdale, Pa. Mr. Holobinko came to Alaska in 1971. He was<br />

employed <strong>by</strong> Wasilla Excavating from 1972 to 1986. He worked for Howdie Inc. from<br />

1986 until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Holobinko enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.<br />

His family wrote: "He was a dedicated husband and father. He took care of us all. He was<br />

a doting grandfather to all of his three grandchildren with a special relationship with his<br />

namesake, Peter." Mr. Holobinko is survived <strong>by</strong> his wife of 55 years, Eva L. Holobinko;<br />

children, Yolonda, Andrew, Stephanie and Ladd; grandchildren, Peter, Brittney and<br />

Anastasia; sisters, Helen and Anne; and brothers, Charles, Paul, Bill and Don. In lieu of<br />

flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Hospice of the Mat-Su, 3051 E. Palmer-<br />

Wasilla Highway, Wasilla 99654. Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home and<br />

Crematory in Wasilla.<br />

HOLOBINKO HALL - Peter<br />

HOLOBINKO HALL - Peter, 88, of Banning, Calif. and formerly of Madera died<br />

Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at San Gorgonio Hospital in Banning, Calif. He was born July 1,<br />

1925, a son of the late Wasco and Anna (Dordth) Holobinko. He was a 1943 graduate of<br />

the Bigler Township High School. He attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and<br />

received a Master’s degree in business administration from University of California, Los<br />

Angeles in 1960. He served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator during World War II in<br />

the South Pacific. He retired from Citrus College in Glendale, Calif., where he was<br />

assistant superintendent for 30 years in the business department. On Nov. 8, 1952 he<br />

married Rosemary Nortz in Denver, CO and moved to California in 1953. He’s survived<br />

<strong>by</strong> his wife; a son, Robert (Lori) Hall of Las Angeles, Calif.; a granddaughter, Shannon;<br />

and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Roslynn and Suzanna. He’s also survived <strong>by</strong> two<br />

sisters, Mary Boone of Fostoria, Ohio and Annie Hawkins of Glen Hope. In addition to<br />

his parents, he was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> a daughter, Susan in 2007 and 10 brothers and<br />

four sisters. Burial will be Friday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Cathedral City, Calif.<br />

Peter Holobinko Hall, 88, Banning, Calif., formerly of Banian, Madera RD, died Oct. 14,<br />

2013. He was born in Banian, son of Wasco and Anna (Dordth) Holobinko. He married<br />

Rosemary Nortz on Nov. 8, 1952, in Denver, Colo., and moved to California in 1953.<br />

Surviving are his wife; a son, Robert Hall of Los Angeles, Calif.; a granddaughter; three<br />

great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Mary Boone of Fostoria, Ohio, and Annie Hawkins<br />

of Glen Hope. He was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> a daughter, Susan, in 2007; 10 brothers; and<br />

four sisters. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Interment will be made in Forest<br />

Lawn Cemetery, Cathedral City, Calif. (Altoona Mirror, Altoona, PA, October 23, 2012)<br />

HOLOBINKO, Samuel<br />

HASTINGS - Great Parastas and interment services for Samuel Holobinko, 59, of<br />

Hastings, and formerly of Madera, who died Saturday, May 21, in the V.A. Medical<br />

Center, Altoona, will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Shoff-Kruise Funeral Home,<br />

Madera. Father James E. Poorman will officiate and interment will follow in St. Mary's<br />

Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Ramey. Friends will be received at the funeral home today<br />

from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Born April 4, 1929, in Madera, he was a son of Wasco and<br />

Anna (Dordth) Holobinko. Mr. Holobinko, who was retired, had worked as a foreman of
