HOLOBINKO, George<br />

Madera - George Holobinko, 57, of Madera, also of Keansburg, N.J., died Monday<br />

evening at the home of his sister, Mrs. Steve Zolyak of Ramey. Born March 30, 1906, at<br />

Madera, he was a son of DeMetrius and Helen (Nadvit) Holobinko. A manufacturer of<br />

ice cream, Mr. Holobinko was a World War II veteran. Surviving are two brothers and<br />

three sisters: Michael, Anna, and Mrs. Paul (Evelyn) Malinak, Cleveland, Ohio; Joseph,<br />

Madera, and Mrs. Steve (Sue) Zolyak, Ramey. He was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> his parents<br />

and a brother, John. Requiem High Mass will be sung Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's<br />

Greek Catholic Church, Ramey, with the Rev. Fr. John Malashuk as celebrant. Interment<br />

will be in the church cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted <strong>by</strong> the John<br />

Branic Post No. 8822, VFW. Friends are being received at the Buranovsky Funeral<br />

Home, Ramey, from 7 to 10 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow. Parastas<br />

will be said in the funeral home today and tomorrow at 8 p.m. (The Progress, Clearfield,<br />

HOLOBINKO, George, Sr "Sheik"<br />

Mr. George "Sheik" Holobinko, Sr, 86, of Madera, formerly of Clearfield and Glen Hope,<br />

passed away at 11:22 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at his residence. Born on April 30,<br />

1923 in Madera a son of the late Wasco and Anna (Dordth) Holobinko. He was a 1941<br />

graduate of the former Madera High School and earned a degree in drafting from the<br />

Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class in<br />

WW II. He was a member of the Ansonville Baptist Church. Before George entered the<br />

Navy he worked for the former Yorkshire Coal Co. of Madera. He retired from the<br />

Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a bridge design engineer. George was a<br />

member of the Osceola Mills F & A.M. Lodge #0515; Williamsport Scottish Rite; and<br />

the John Lewis Shade American Legion Post 6, Clearfield. In his younger years, George,<br />

played baseball for the Madera MOOSE team and Smoke Run baseball team, he also<br />

played in the Clearfield Fast Pitch softball league. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and<br />

gardener and enjoyed listening and dancing to Polkas. He is survived <strong>by</strong> four children;<br />

George Holobinko, Jr and his fiancé' Jo Ann Cline of Clearfield, Deborah A. Gregg and<br />

her husband Tom of Madera, Frank L. Holobinko and his wife Pamela of New<br />

Cumberland and Barbara Weymers and her husband, Wess of Mifflin. He is also survived<br />

<strong>by</strong> 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother survives;<br />

Catherine Bartosh of Colonia, NJ., Mary Boone of Fostoria, OH, Annie Hawkins and her<br />

husband Herbert of Glen Hope and Peter Hall of Banning, CA. A number of nieces and<br />

nephews also survive. George was preceded in death <strong>by</strong> his parents; his former wife,<br />

Gladys Mae (Baer) Ingram; 3 sisters, Stella Anna, Irene Jones and an infant sister; 8<br />

brothers, Samuel, John, Frank, Basil, Andy, Mike, and two infant brothers. Friends will<br />

be received on Friday, Feb. 12, from 7-9 PM and on Sat., Feb. 13 from 12 Noon - 2 PM<br />

at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Madera. Funeral Services will be held on Sat., Feb. 13<br />

at 2:00 PM in the Kruise Funeral Homes, Inc., Madera, with Pastor Tina Hawkins<br />

officiating. Interment will be in the Bell Cemetery, Glen Hope. Memorial donations may
