unanimous but not landslide decision over the real deal. The next matchup sees
George Foreman take on Ezzard Charles.|
if it is the same song but the flip side of "Silouettes" by The Rays is called
"Daddy Cool." According to the Billboard book of top 40 hits, it was released
in 1957. Ezzard Charles may stay away from Foreman for a while but I pick big
George to catch him by the fourth round for a knockout. |
DAddy Cool! Keep on boxing people|
|7/28/02 08:47:27 AM|Bob Bumbera|NC||renfbera@aol.com||||10|I have to pick
George here. Charles was a better all round fighter than Foreman, If Ez were a
bigger guy he'd clean George's clock, but I don't see a 185 pound guy standing
up to Foreman's power. Although EZ, in his prime, would be tough to beat, and
George the First was usually exhusted after 6 rounds. I'll say George wins a 12
round decesion, a close one. |
|7/28/02 11:45:59 AM|Joe Krause|Chicago||sadmspats@yahoo.com||||10|Foreman would
eventually find Charles in about the 3rd round and physically manhandle him as
he did small fighters and score a decisive KO.|
CALIFORNIA||RONNYRAINS@YAHOO.COM||||10|DEAR BRENDA QUARRY: did yu say yu had
1966-75 boxing illustrateds?? you can email me anytime.AND APOLOGIES if this is
a bad time,They most exciting heavyweight bout i ever saw, still has to be they
FOREMAN/LYLE i can just remember i was at a cookout the bout was "live!" on abc
and even the women were yelling for one or they other, I remember LYLE hit
FOREMAN SO HARD he broke one of his shoes!!!!!!|
|7/31/02 03:12:13 PM|Kent|La Habra, Ca||oriononside@aol.com||||10|Jimmy D, what
is amazing about Jerry is Lyle in their bout hit him with some of those same
shots and Jerry took them and was still standing and firing back and gettng the
better of Lyle. Jerry kept Lyle off balance a lot of the time but there were
still moments when Lyle landed bombs. Jerry had an amazing chin to say the
least.|
CALIFORNIA||RONNYRAINS@YAHOO.COM||||10|KENT: oh yes i know JERRY could take more
punishment than his own good, a good friend and SHAVERS fan, could not believe
JQ took a couple of his bombs, before JER creamed him.How many people could say
they can get up off the canvas and ko ALEXANDER, alexander said he was the only
one JQ, TOO GET UP AND WIN, TAKE CARE|
|7/31/02 08:29:50 PM|Gerry Schultz|Ohio||jgschultz@firstam.com||||10|I'm just
curious, how many times was JQ knocked down in his career? I know there were
guys he knocked down multiple times, like Spencer, Patterson. How many times did
Jerry get up to win?|
|8/1/02 09:19:51 AM|Paul Drolet|Montreal||drolpaul@aol.com||||10|Jerry was on
the deck six times in his career. On four occasions he rose from the canvas to
win. These were his bouts against Patterson, Rufus Brassell, Alex Miteff and Joe
Alexander. The Patterson knockdown was a flash knockdown, however, and I'm not
sure if the judges scored it that way for Floyd. Jerry was floored twice in
bouts he didn't win: against Chuvalo in '69 when he rose just as Clayton tolled
10; and against Frazier in their second bout, in the dying seconds of the fourth
from a crippling hook to the body. He rose. The bell sounded. But his legs were
gone for the fifth and decisive round of that bout. |
|8/1/02 11:39:27 AM|Joe Krause|Chciago||sadmspats@yahoo.com||||10|I have the
Miteff fight and Jerry doesn't get knocked down if I recall correctly.|
