Complejo Lomas Manechis otro conjunto metamórfico, equivalente
estructuras y formas; ortoneises foliados, augengneis y granitoides
no diferenciados, y finalmente paraneises.
gneisses, migmatite amphibolites, as well as gneissic granodiorites
and quartzdiorites; the upper sequence is made up by micaceous
schists with a large number of hornblende amphibolite interbedding
(Adameck et al., 1996).
The Santa Rita Complex (Litherland et al., 1979) outcrops in the
San Ignacio de Velasco region. It is positioned inbetween the
Lomas Manechis Complex and the San Ignacio Supergroup.
According to Berrangé & Litherland (1982), the main lithologies
include a set of biotite, garnet-biotite, muscovite-biotite and
muscovite-garnet-biotite gneisses, as well as by quartzite,
metasamite and amphibolite.
Lying over the Lomas Manechis Complex, in the Las Petas – San
Matías area, there is another metamorphic set which is equivalent
to the Chiquitanía and Aventura complexes. This unit was called
Río Fortuna Complex by Pitfield et al. (1979). It is a set of
metasediments and paragneisses that settle transitionally over the
rocks of the San Bartolo subgroup in the Lomas Manechis
Complex. The rocks of the San Ignacio Supergroup are absent in
this region, and the metamorphites of the Río Fortuna Complex are
covered by the rocks of the Sunsás Group. The Complex’s highest
unit is the Ascensión Formation (Pitfield et al., 1979), which is
made up by genisses with metarkoses.
On the southern border of the Guaporé Craton (the area of San José
de Chiquitos, Santo Corazón and Roboré), the schists and gneisses
of the Aventura Complex (Aventura Group of Mitchell et al.,
1979) are present in conformity over the Lomas Manechis
Complex. This unit was initially placed in the San Ignacio Cycle
after the author´s name taking into consideration that it is not only
made up by metasediments but also by orthogneisses, Curro et al.
(1997, in press) and Landívar et al. (1997, in press) assign it to the
Tranzamazonic Cycle and give it the category of Complex. During
the San Ignacio Orogeny, granitoid bodies were bedded in this
complex, and later, at the beginning of the Upper Proterozoic
(Sunsás Orogeny), the complex was intruded by pegmatites, mafic
rock dikes, granites, and quartz veins. From the base to the top, the
Aventura Complex is divided into three units: the Patujú Domain,
the Cristal Sequence and the Bahía Las Tojas Sequence.
The basal unit, the Patujú Domain (Patujú Gneiss Formation of
Mitchell et al, 1979) pertains to a biotite-plagioclase gneiss,
displaying wide bands up to 8 km of width. This unit was affected
by later intrusions of granitoid bodies and a potasic feldspar
metasomatism. Three sets can be differentiated (Landívar et al.,
1997): migmatites of diverse structures and forms; foliated orthogneisses,
augengneisses and undifferentiated granitoids; and
finally, paragneisses.
At the base, the Cristal Sequence (Cristal Schist Formation of
Mitchell et al., 1979) is made up by conglomeradic schists,
followed by poorly micaceous samitic schists, muscovite schists,
quartz-feldspathic gneisses, quartzites and other schist varieties.
All these rocks are rich in mica and display a medium grade
metamorphism. The cristal Sequence is frequently intruded by
pegmatites laid out parallel to the schistosity.
