COMPENDIO DE GEOLOGIA DE BOLIVIA Capítulo 9 LAS PROVINCIAS Y EPOCAS METALOGENICAS DE BOLIVIA EN SU MARCO GEODINAMICO BOLIVIAN PROVINCES AND METALOGENETIC EPOCHS IN ITS GEODYNAMIC CONTEXT Bertrand Heuschmidt (1) & Vitaliano Miranda-Angles (2) Situada en el centro del continente sudamericano, Bolivia ocupa una posición geológica, y por tanto metalogénica, privilegiada, participando a la vez del escudo brasileño, del orógeno andino y de las cuencas amazónica y platense. Cada una de estas megaunidades morfoestructurales se caracteriza por una historia geológica propia. El escudo precámbrico es el producto de varios ciclos sedimentarios y orogénicos proterozoicos a los que sucedió un largo período de relativa estabilidad, de pedogénesis y de aluvionamiento hasta el presente. Las cordilleras y altiplanicies de los Andes Centrales, eslabones del cinturón móvil circumpacífico, se plasmaron a través de una sucesión de fases tectónicas y plutonovolcánicas que alternaron con períodos cada vez más breves de sedimentación detrítica, marina y luego terrígena. Por su lado las cuencas del Amazonas y del Río de la Plata, cuya porción boliviana constituye la llamada llanura Chaco-Beniana, fueron modeladas por los ciclos plio-cuaternarios de degradación y agradación fluviales resultantes, sobre todo, de la neotectónica regional y, aguas arriba, de los cambios de perfil hidrográfico ligados a los movimientos tardiorogénicos andinos. A la evolución geodinámica contrastada de estas tres unidades geoestructurales corresponden historias metalogénicas igualmente contrastadas. En el escudo precámbrico han sido identificadas tres épocas metalogénicas proterozoicas vinculadas con los ciclos sedimentarios y tectono-magmáticos San Ignacio (aprox. 1600 (?)– 1300 Ma), Sunsas (aprox. 1300–950 Ma) y Brasiliano (aprox. 650– 500 Ma), otra, menor jurásico-cretácica en relación con un magmatismo alcalino anorogénico y una quinta cenozoica fruto de varios ciclos meteóricos continentales. El cinturón orogénico andino fue escenario de dos ciclos metalogénicos mayores: el primero asociado a un plutonismo ácido de edad triásico-jurásica, el segundo, que fue de lejos el más desarrollado y productivo en Located in the center of the South American Continent, Bolivia has a priviliged geological, and therefore metallogenic position, being part at the same time of the Brazilian shield, Andean orogen, and the Amazon and La Plata basins. Each one of these morphostructural megaunits are characterized by their own geological history. The Pre-Cambrian shield is the product of several Proterozoic sedimentary and orogenic cycles, which were followed by a long period of relative stability, pedogenesis and outwash lasting into the present. As links of a circumpacific mobile belt, the cordilleras and altiplanicies of the Central Andes were molded through a succession of tectonic and pluton-volcanic phases which alternated with decreasingly shorter detrital, marine and later terrestrial sedimentation periods. The Amazon basins, and Río de la Plata basins on their part, make up the so-called Chaco-Beni Plain, were modelled by Plio-Quaternary fluvial degradation and gradation cycles, which resulted mostly of the regional neotectonics, and upstream, of the hydrographic profile linked to the late orogenic Andean movements. The contrasted geodynamic evolution of these three units has equally contrasted metallogenic histories. At the Pre-Cambrian shield, three Proterozoic metallogenic eras have been identified, linked to the sedimentary and tectonic-magmatic San Ignacio (approx. 1600 (?)–1300 Ma), Sunsas (approx. 1300–950 Ma) and Brazilian (approx. 650–500 Ma) cycles, a smaller Jurassic- Cretaceous one, pertaining to an alkaline anorogenic magmatism, and a fifth Cenozoic one, product of several continental meteoric cycles.
