REVISTA TECNICA DE YPFB VOL. 18 (1-2) JUNIO 2000 tienden a flotar, explica la común ocurrencia del metal (por ejemplo en la Fm. Manoa) a un nivel del perfil aluvionar más alto que aquel de los clásicos paystreaks basales donde se concentran todas las partículas gruesas de los placeres proximales cordilleranos (Ruiz 1989). La fuente primaria del oro detrítico de la cuenca amazónica puede inferirse a partir de dos clases de observaciones. En primer lugar, las características morfoscópicas y geoquímicas de las partículas auríferas concurren en indicar un largo transporte, desde el exterior de la cuenca. Por otra parte, llama la atención el contraste entre la relativa abundancia del oro a todo lo largo del curso del Madre de Dios y del Madera y su escasez, o incluso virtual ausencia, tanto en el Mamoré (que drena aguas provenientes del escudo precámbrico) como en el curso medio del Beni (cuya cuenca superior cordillerana es no obstante sumamente aurífera). Tratándose del Beni, tal carencia de oro ha sido imputada (Hérail et al, 1991) a una subsidencia excepcionalmente pronunciada de su llanura de inundación a la salida de los Andes (aguas abajo de Rurrenabaque), la cual provocó la acumulación masiva de material aluvial heterométrico en el pie de monte en vez de una gradual selección granulométrica y concentración conjunta del metal río abajo. De cualquier modo, todo parece demostrar que el oro de la cuenca amazónica proviene por lo esencial del alto Madre de Dios y por tanto, en última instancia, de las innumerables vetas de cuarzo encajonadas en terrenos psamopelíticos eopaleozoicos del sureste de la Cordillera Oriental peruana (Cordillera de Carabaya), vetas que dieron además origen, también en el Perú, a los grandes yacimientos aluvionares de la cuenca superior del Madre de Dios aguas arriba de Puerto Maldonado (ríos alto Madre de Dios, Inambari, Tambopata y otros) (Bonnemaison et al. 1983). Sin embargo, el aporte metálico no resultó sino parcialmente directo a partir de los afloramientos filonianos intemperizados. En efecto, una proporción apreciable del oro fue removilizada, a escala más local, de los colectores intermedios que fueron las formaciones rudáceas pedemontanas precoces ? neógenas o pleistocenas? Mazuco (que, en el Perú, atestigua que la erosión alcanzó las vetas auríferas ya hacia fines del Mioceno), Acre y Manoa, de W a E. El papel preconcentrador de estos colectores intermedios queda también ilustrado, aunque marginalmente, en la cuenca media del Beni: pues el oro contenido y localmente explotado en las terrazas holocenas de sus tributarios el Tequeje y el Maniquí proviene exclusivamente de la removilización, por la disección cuaternaria, del stock de metal previamente almacenado en la formación neógena Tutumo del sinclinal Tuichi-Quiquibey (Hérail et al. 1991). which tend to float, explains the common presence of the metal (in the Manoa Formation, for instance) at a higher alluvion profile level than that of the basal paystreak clasts in which most of the coarse particles of these proximal range placers concentrate (Ruiz 1989). The main source of Amazon Basin detrital gold can be inferred from two kinds of observations. First, the morphoscopic and geochemical features of the gold particles coincide in indicating a long transportation from outside the basin. On the other hand, it is interesting to note the contrast between the relative abundance of gold along the whole course of the Madre de Dios and Madera rivers, and the scarcity or even virtual absence thereof both in the Momoré River (which drains waters coming from the Precambrian shield) and middle course of the Beni River (the range upper basin of which bears nonetheless plenty of gold). Speaking of the Beni River, the lack of gold has been attributed (Hérail et al. 1991) to an exceptionally pronounced subsidence of its flood plain at the Andes exit (downstream of Rurrenabaque), which cuased the massive accumulation of heterometric alluvial material at the piedmont, instead of a gradual granulometric selection and concentration of the metal down the river. Anyway, it all seem to prove that the Amazon Basin gold comes esentially from the high Madre de Dios River, and therefore, ultimately from the countless quartz veins embedded in Eo-Paleozoic samo-pellitic terranes southeast of the Peruvian Eastern Cordillera (the Carabaya Cordillera). In Peru, these veins also originated the large alluvium beds of the Madre de Dios upper basin, upstream of Puerto Maldonado (high Madre de Dios, Inambari, Tambopata and other rivers) (Bonnemaison et al. 1983). However, the metallic input is only partially directstarting at the weathered lode outcrops. Indeed, at a more local scale, a considerable gold proportion was re-mobilized from the intermediate collectors that were the – Neogene or Pleistocene - rudaceous piedmontane precocious formations of Mazuco (which, confirm that the erosion in Perú reached the auriferous veins towards the end of the Miocene), Acre and Manoa, from W to E. Although marginally, these intermediate collector’s preconcentrating rol is also illustrated ¡Error! Marcador no definido.in the Beni middle basin, since the gold content, locally exploited in the Holocene terraces of its tributaries, the Tequeje and Maniquí rivers, comes exclusively from the re-mobilization by Quaternary dissection of the previously stored metal stock in the Neogene Tutumo basin of the Tuichi-Quiquibey sincline (Hérail et al. 1991).
