orogénico (1400 a 1280 Ma), que corresponde a la Orogenia San
Ignacio, cuyos granitoides cubren gran parte del sector
septentrional. La diferencia más importante con las rocas del Ciclo
Transamazónico es que las rocas del Ciclo San Ignacio fueron
afectadas por un metamorfismo de menor grado.
Ignacio Orogeny, the granitoids of which cover great part of the
northern sector. The most important difference between the San
Ignacio and the Transamazonic Cycle rocks is that the former were
affected by a lower degree of metamorphism.
Supergrupo San Ignacio
Entre los 1600 y 1400 Ma se desarrolló en el oriente boliviano una
secuencia metamórfica aflorante en el norte y oeste del cratón.
Rocas del supergrupo no están presentes hacia el este, es decir en el
área de La Petas, San Matías, San José de Chiquitos, Santo
Corazón y Roboré.
Los afloramientos más septentrionales del Supergrupo San Ignacio
están desarrollados en el norte en el área de Magdalena - Puerto
Villazón, colindantes con el Río Iténez o Guaporé. En este sector
se puede observar la siguiente secuencia:
San Ignacio Supergroup
Outcropping to the north and west of the craton, between 1600 and
1400 Ma, a metamorphic sequence developed in eastern Bolivia.
Rocks of the Supergroup are absent to the east, that is, in the areas
of Las Petas, San Matías, San José de Chiquitos, Santo Corazón
and Roboré.
The northernmost outcrops of the San Ignacio Supergroup
developed to the north of the Magdalena – Puerto Villazón area,
adjacent to the Itenez or Guaporé River. In the sector, the following
sequence can be observed:

Sobre las rocas del Complejo Chiquitanía se disponen dos
conjuntos sedimentarios pertenecientes al Supergrupo San Ignacio.
El conjunto inferior, de sedimentos marinos someros, es
denominado Grupo Serranía Martínez (Pitfield et al., 1983), e
integrado por dos divisiones menores: Paquiosal, en la base, y
Cerro Azul en el tope.
Continúa otro conjunto metasedimentario denominado Grupo San
Simón, depositado en un ambiente fluvial a deltaico. Este grupo
comprende, de base a tope, a las formaciones El Cerrito, El
Colorado y Bonanza, todas ellas nominadas por Pitfield en la obra
citada.
The sedimentary sets belonging to the San Ignacio Supergroup are
laid over rocks of the Chiquitanía Complex. The shallow marine
sediment lower set is called Serranía Martínez Group (Pitfield et
al., 1983), and is made up by two lower smaller divisions:
Paquiosal at the base, and Cerro Azul at the top.
The other metasedimentary set follows. It is called the San Simón
Group, and was deposited in the fulvial to deltaic environment.
From base to top, this group comprises the El Cerrito, El
Colorado and Bonanza formations, all named by Pitfield in the
work quoted above.
