lengthwise structures regionally related to the Andean Tertiary
tectogenesis (Rössling & Borja-Navarro 1994) (areally transpressional
faulting zones, but locally distensive, and in the case of
Sb-Au, anticline highs). It is associated to powerful Ordovician sea
sequences of often pyritous and/or more or less carbonous shale in
which the visible manifestations of intrusive magmatism are reduced
to generally pre-mineral hypabyssal dikes. On the other hand, in the
vicinity of the antimonium deposits, thermal springs controlled by
the same structures are often observed, which are indicators of a
posthumous hydrothermalism.
The genesis and age of these antimonium-gold and lead-zink deposits
are still a controversial subject. In the case of the former, according
to the currently prevailing seccretionist model for this kind of
mineralizations in other places of the same belt, Lehrberger (1992)
suggests three mineral concetration eras for Bolivia (fig. 9.4):
I. At the Lower Paleozoic marginal euxinic basin, the preenrichment
in Sb and Au of the metallotect dark shale,
basically by the adsorption and ion exchange at the
argillaceous mineral surfaces, by the precipitation of sulphurs
in a reducer environment, and by filtration through argillaceous
mud during the diagenesis and the compaction; the latter also
provided the necessary fluids for the transportation of metals.
II.
anticlinales
II.
During the Upper Paleozoic hercynic diastrophism, the syn- to
late-kinematic main metallic concentration by convective
hydrothermal circuits of medium depth and low temperature,
which could only remobilize the Sb and Au (particularly
mobile elements) of the Eo-Paleozoic black shale, to
precipitate them again in the decompression areas of the
hercynic tectonics, for instance the anticline hinges.
III.
III.
Last, in the course of the Upper Cenozoic Andean orogenesis,
a second metal reconcentration, at the ore level, of the
Paleozoic epigenetic deposits by new convection cells in a
subvolcanic environment.
plutones o stocks hipabisales (zonaciones, alineaciones, etc.) o aún
Given the apparent absence of significant igneous intrusions in most
of the antimonium-gold areas, it is generally appropriate to relate the
main phase (II) of mineralizing hydrothermalism to the meso- to
epizonal metamorphic desvolatilization fluids which are commonly
involved in the effective remobilization or syn- to late-kinematic
intracrustal “seccretion” (sensu lato) within the polymetallic belt
under discussion (cf. Dill et al. 1997), as well as in other comparable
belts worldwide (cf. Boyle 1987). Nonetheless, it was possible to
observe certain spatial indications of the distal link with plutons or
hypabyssal stocks (zoning, alignments, etc.) or even some remains of
the high temperature precocious paragenesis with magmatic filiation
minerals, in some deposits that were otherwise similar to the
preceding ones. Such features alow to conjecture a even more
imprecise transition, by metamorphic seccretion, between the
deposits exclusively associated to Eo-Paleozoic sedimenary ampelitic
series and deposits intrinsically linked to the thermochemical external
aureole of plutonic (“tele” or “crypto” plutonic deposits.) or exposed
