Medium green-yellow with silver highlights. Ripe tropical<br />
fruit notes reminiscent of passionfruit and pineapple mingle<br />
with anise and mandarin zest to comprise a multifaceted<br />
bouquet. Full bodied and concentrated with subtle fruit<br />
sweetness pleasantly framed in a juicy, succulent acid<br />
structure. The finish is very long and mineral. Will benefit<br />
from further bottle maturation.<br />

The Schmelz family winery is situated in<br />
the heart of the Wachau in the little<br />
wine hamlet of Joching and is operated<br />
by Johann and Monika together with son Florian<br />
and son Thomas with his wife Bianca.<br />
Their vineyard plots are scattered over an<br />
eight kilometre stretch from Wösendorf to Unterloiben<br />
putting a variation of soil and microclimates<br />
at their disposal. Grüner Veltliner is<br />
the main variety followed by Riesling. The assortment<br />
is completed with Gelber Muskateller<br />
(Muscat Blanc à petits grains), Sauvignon<br />
Blanc, and Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc). The<br />
care lavished on tending the vines and meticulous<br />
manual selection at harvest ensures<br />
healthy grapes. This pristine fruit is gently vinified<br />
in a modern cellar. The resulting wines offer<br />
inimitable drinking pleasure with their signature<br />
mellifluous fruit. The Schmelz family<br />
winery was a founding member of the “Vinea<br />
Wachau” vintner association. Their wines<br />
have won numerous national and international<br />
accolades. Hans Schmelz was awarded Falstaff<br />
Vintner of the Year in 2005. The Schmelz<br />
family wines can be tasted in their modern<br />
tasting room with an idyllic view of the surrounding<br />
vineyards.<br />

Pale green-yellow with silver highlights. Ripe apricot, a delicate<br />
touch of dried fruit, subtle candied orange zest and a<br />
veil of blossom honey. Juicy, fine peach is highlighted by<br />
crisp acidity in this complex wine. Pleasant fruit sweetness<br />
lingers very long on the finish. A nicely concentrated Riesling<br />
style with plenty of finesse and great potential.<br />
