The Harkamp winery is located on the<br />
Flamberg in the Sausal Mountains of<br />
Südsteiermark. The vineyard terraces<br />
climb so steeply up the mountainside that<br />
this place is often locally referred to as<br />
“Himmelreich”, which translates to “kingdom<br />
of heaven”. The vineyard slope is so<br />
exposed that it offers an expansive view that<br />
sweeps from the Koralpe Mountains to the<br />
edge of the Great Hungarian Plain and to<br />
Slovenia. Südsteiermark is internationally<br />
famed for its crisp, refreshing, fruity wines.<br />
Yet here on the slope of the Flamberg, in the<br />
most northerly part of Südsteiermark, the<br />
sensitivity of Hannes and Petra Harkamp allow<br />
them to accomplish so much more.<br />
There is hardly another winery that achieves<br />
more aristocratic elegance and finesse in<br />
such refreshing wines.<br />
The top vineyards of the Harkamp estate<br />
count among the best sites of Südsteiermark.<br />
The vines of the Oberburgstall site are rooted<br />
in shell limestone soils directly on the<br />
Flamberg Mountain. The Kogelberg vineyard<br />
is farther south and its schist soil is the<br />
foundation for subtle, fine-boned wines.<br />
Hannes Harkamp certainly understands<br />
how to bring the full potential of these steep<br />
sites into the bottle. He vinifies classic varietal<br />
wines that are distinguished by crisp fruit<br />

– typical for this quiet, thoughtful<br />
vintner. The Harkamp wine estate can be<br />
best described as “an experience for all the<br />
senses”. Next to the elegant wine, one can<br />
also enjoy authentic regional cuisine in their<br />
family-operated restaurant and stay in the<br />

Brilliant yellow with silver highlights. Fine and fruity with<br />
ripe yellow apple, subtle brioche, delicate nuances of orange<br />
zest and a hint of lemongrass. Complex and nicely<br />
concentrated with nuances of peach and a wonderfully refreshing<br />
spine of acid. The long finish features subtle honeydew<br />
melon, hazelnut and notes of grapefruit. Dependable<br />
