TRAPL
ORGANIC
Johannes Trapl is a purist who aspires
to reveal the true, authentic essence of
the Carnuntum region in his wines. In
most cases, the vines for his best wines are
older than he is. The vines are deeply rooted;
harmonious, multi-layered and fruit-intense
is the flavour of their grapes. Trapl seeks the
true character and flavour that the terroir
confers. He guides the vines that his grandfather
attentively planted with his own
hands. When the grapes enter the cellar in
autumn, a new environment awaits and Johannes
Trapl helps them overcome their
shyness and become wine. He simply guides
them, allowing their intrinsic character to
remain intact. The vintner adores intrinsic
fruit – pepper, cherry, lilac and more – authentic,
natural and real. He takes on the
challenge for Zweigelt and St. Laurent on
the gravel and loam dominated slopes of the
Arbesthaler Hills. The Spitzerberg, which
belongs geographically to the Hainburg
Mountains, allows him the possibility to
vinify a very individual Blaufränkisch that
reflects its origin in meagre schist rock. Johannes
Trapl summarizes his credo, “I want
to feel the diversity, finesse and power of our
vineyards and bring a maximum of this into
the wines without sacrificing drinking enjoyment.”
Deep dark ruby with purple highlights and a subtle transparent
rim. Ripe damson plum, blackberry, candied orange
zest and delicate notes of cardamom and sandalwood.
Juicy acidity elegantly lifts delicate sweet fruit. Tannins
are nicely rounded. Pleasant chocolate notes join in on the
finish. Dependable ageing potential.
