Fritz is a traditional wine estate with
modern understanding. The union of
the tried and true with innovation at
the highest international standard is the goal
of the Fritz Family. Numerous national and
international accolades confirm their efforts.
Ecological balance is a core value
of the Fritz’s holistic concept. Fertilization
with homemade compost and reduction of
plant protection sprays help to preserve the
environment. Yield restricting methods help
provide vines with optimal nourishment
even in difficult years. Selective manual harvest
and cautious fruit transport are a matter
of course in ensuring the highest possible
quality. Gentle processing of the grapes with
movement exclusively with power of gravity
and perfect fermentation are important factors
in creating wines with plenty of character.
Varietal character and easy drinking
pleasure are the most valued at tributes for
the light wines and for this, temperature-controlled
fermentation in stainless steel is a
prerequisite. The Wagram terroir – the interplay
of soil and cool climate – lend the wines
unique regional expression and character.
The best grapes are fermented spontaneously
for the premium wines. Oak is used judiciously
to lend wines the winemaker’s unique
signature.
A total of fifteen vineyard hectares are cultivated.
80 % of the production is white
wines. The most important varieties are Roter
Veltliner, Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay,
and Roter Traminer (a local variation of
Gewürztraminer).
Brilliant green-yellow. Mango and ripe pineapple over a
background of orange zest and blossom honey. Multifaceted
and complex with juicy acid structure elegantly framing
sweetly extracted apricot. Stone fruits and minerals linger
very long on the finish. A superb representative of a rare
variety with good ageing potential.
