We strive to create wines with typical<br />
regional character in harmony<br />
with nature every year,” is the<br />
central idea that has inspired Albert Gesellmann<br />
for years. The 2015 vintage is a special<br />
one for Weingut Gesellmann – it is the<br />
first year of certified organic wines. Forty-five<br />
hectares (110 acres) of vineyards is<br />
an exclusive size and it is this producer’s<br />
goal to supply a limited quantity of quality<br />
wine to international wine lovers. Weingut<br />
Gesellmann places great value on cultivating<br />
autochthonous grape varieties.<br />
The benchmark blend “Opus Eximum”<br />
unites the local varieties Blaufränkisch,<br />
Zweigelt and St. Laurent in a wine that is<br />
destined to be an ideal accompaniment to<br />
food. Another premium wine is the “G”<br />
made , made from 90 year old Blaufränkisch<br />
and St. Laurent vines, that stirs the senses<br />
with clarity and depth. The “hochberc”,<br />
made totally from Blaufränkisch, has been<br />
vinified since 2005 and embodies the finesse<br />
of the union between grape variety, region<br />
and vintner. Also among the top blends is<br />
the “Bela Rex”, a cuvee of international varieties<br />
Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, that<br />
showcases the vintner’s abilities. The estate<br />
vineyards are also ideal sources for tasty<br />
white wines. The “Chardonnay Ried Steinriegel”<br />
is distinguished by an exciting array<br />
of aromas with fine mineral notes, while the<br />
non-oaked Chardonnay allows the vintner<br />
to express his passion for varietal typicity.<br />
As of the 2011 vintage, the assortment of<br />
wines also include a “hochberc weiss” which<br />
is a white wine made from a field blend that<br />
offers good aroma complexity and body.<br />
The Gesellmann white wines are expressive<br />
and complex wines for special moments that<br />
are matured in new and used small oak barrels<br />
or in stainless steel.<br />
