TESCH
For the Tesch family, the production of excellent
wines is their profession and their
calling. They have the best natural preconditions
for this with the deep loamy soils of
Neckenmarkt in Mittelburgenland. However it
is, it is not only terroir and climate that determine
wine quality. The interplay of know-how,
handcraftmanship, experience and diligence is
also influences the production of their topnotch
wines. The art of winemaking is more
than just an occupation for family Tesch – it is
a lifestyle, an expression of joy and culture.
This is something one tastes: excellent wines
that are the liquid expression of a region and its
grapes. The family’s vineyards encompass 23
hectares in the foothills of the Ödenburger
Gebirge (Sopron Mountains). Typical regional
wine varieties and up to 70-year-old vines
thrive in Ried Hochberg, Ried Weisser Weg and
other vineyard sites. The soils are diverse and
every parcel of land has its special attributes.
Every aspect of this diversity is thoughtfully
Mittelburgenland DAC
considered in the clear and bespoke vinification
of the Tesch wines. Blaufränkisch plays the
leading role and makes up a 60 % share of the
vineyard area. Environmentally conscious cultivation,
strict yield reduction and selective
manual harvest are the foundation for firstclass
wines. The name Tesch and especially the
wines of this house are on everyone’s lips. Family
Tesch is dedicated to the authentic expression
of the Mittelburgenland region and this
loyal connection can certainly be tasted in their
outstanding wines.
