Many years of great dedication to sustainable<br />
viticulture has finally led this<br />
vintner family to certified organic wine<br />
production. Family Bauer makes particularly<br />
meticulous efforts in maintaining long term soil<br />
vitality, promoting the natural disease resistance<br />
of vines, and creating an optimal habitat for beneficial<br />
insects. This enterprise views Grüner Veltliner<br />
not just as a grape variety, but also as a<br />
partner. It is bottled in four different variations,<br />
not including ice wine. Family Bauer also specialises<br />
in Roter Veltliner, a variety that is listed in<br />
Slow Food’s “Arch of Taste” as an endangered<br />
cultivar. The Burgundian varieties, which are<br />
planted on lime-rich Wagram loess, should also<br />
not be missed. The Blauburgunder Eiswein (Pinot<br />
Noir ice wine) is a “must have” rarity in the<br />
Bauer assortment this year. The family’s motto<br />
gives a clear message to wine lovers: “Our wines<br />
should fulfil their original intention and be<br />
drunk with joy. <strong>Wine</strong> should be fun!”<br />

Reserve 2015<br />
Pale green-yellow with silver highlights. Inviting floral fragrance<br />
with delicate pear, subtle blossom honey, wild herbs<br />
and a touch of hazelnut. Good complexity with very juicy acidity<br />
nicely lifting sweet pineapple fruit all the way through the<br />
finish. A highly individual accompaniment to food.<br />
