“we don’t ‘make’ wine, we strive to simply support
its development.” This was the way of
thinking that inspired them to convert to certified
biodynamic viticulture in 2006. At the top
of the red wine range are two wines: the elegant
“Pannobile” (Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch) and
the powerful “Comondor” (Merlot Zweigelt
and Cabernet Sauvignon). In recent years the
top Blaufränkisch called “Tannenberg” has also
become an important flagship. Tremendous
success has been achieved at the Falstaff Red
Wine Premiers, which have included first places
for the Comondor 2006 and Pannobile 2010 as
well as second place for the Tannenberg 2009.
The Blaufränkisch assortment continues to
gain significance with the addition of a
“Leithaberg DAC” from old vines and a somewhat
lighter Blaufränkisch called “Kalk &
Schiefer”. Of particular importance in the portfolio
of wines is the soft, fruity “Heideboden”
(Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Merlot), which is
positioned in the mid-price segment. A new addition
to the white wine assortment is the white
“Leithaberg DAC” (Chardonnay and Pinot
Blanc). Hans Nittnaus also has a special knack
for the production of Trockenbeerenauslese.
His unique signature style is nicely balanced,
not overly sweet and well-structured with good
acid and alcohol content and it has outstanding
aging potential.

Deep dark ruby with an opaque core, purple highlights and
a thin transparent rim. Blackberry and subtle liquorice are
layered with tangerine zest, subtle toasty aromas and almond
brittle. Sweetly extracted plum flavours the complex,
tightly woven body that is framed in juicy tannin. The
finish is very long and mineral. Superb potential for further
development.

Deep dark ruby with an opaque core, purple highlights and
a delicate transparent rim. Sweet blackberry, wild cherry
and cassis over a background of subtle sandalwood nuances
and a hint of nougat. A sweetly extracted core of fruit is
superbly structured with abundant, fine-grained tannin
and juicy acid. Complex and very well balanced. A touch of
chocolate joins in on the incredibly long, mineral finish.
Outstanding ageing potential.
