Wagram
liner and Riesling. The remaining third of the
vineyard area is dedicated to the production of
red wine. The Wagram offers exceptional conditions
for Grüner Veltliner due to the superb
symbiosis of climate and soil. When seeking the
core competency of this estate, one should examine
its examples of this variety. Grüner Veltliner
is produced as a light summer wine as well
as in the form of sublime single-vineyard wines
such as the “Ried Steinberg” and “Ried Schlossberg”.
Among the red wines, the juicy Pinot
Noir possesses an excellent reputation and the
“Foggathal” blend counts among the best and
most renowned red wines of Austria. Karl
Fritsch is manager of the estate as well as the
winemaker. He enjoys a very good reputation
among his colleagues due to his innovative spirit
and ability to implement a strategy. His sensitive
hand makes it possible to create a versatile
assortment of wines from the endless possibilities
provided by nature. This is confirmed not
only by the growing number of customers, but
also the numerous accolades for his wines. Karl
Fritsch places priority on the preservation of
nature and its resources with the conversion to
biodynamic viticulture in January of 2006. He
sees it not as a duty, but as a privilege to work
with nature. Karl Fritsch was accepted into the
prestigious vintners’ association “Österreichische
Traditionsweingüter” in 2007, which further
highlights the importance of his role as a
leader in the Wagram wine region.
