e. High cost rental area (Officer applicants only). Prior to the HASC tasking<br />

the MOD Contractor to identify reduced scale property (as per Para 5), the<br />

applicant may request the HASC to expand the radius <strong>of</strong> the search for a full<br />

sized property to 50 miles or 1½ hours. The HASC will task the MOD<br />

Contractor accordingly.<br />

f. Non availability <strong>of</strong> any suitable property (all applicants/all areas). In the<br />

exceptional circumstance that the MOD Contractor cannot identify any suitable<br />

property, the MOD Contractor will seek the MOD Project Manager’s approval,<br />

through the Local Service Commander, to expand the radius <strong>of</strong> the search to 50<br />

miles or 1 ½ hours. Disputes between the Local Service Commander and DIO<br />

Ops Accommodation are to be referred to the appropriate single Service<br />

Housing Colonel for a decision.<br />

APPLICATION FOR SSFA<br />

7. Issue <strong>of</strong> the NAC. As soon as it becomes clear that appropriate SFA is not available<br />

to meet the applicant’s required date, the HASC will issue the applicant with a NAC. The<br />

NAC comprises the SSFA Application Form 1132A (Annex A to Chapter 6 to TSARs – <strong>JSP</strong><br />

<strong>464</strong> Part 1) together with the ‘Rules and instructions for Service personnel occupying<br />

SSFA’.<br />

8. Timescale for the issue <strong>of</strong> the NAC. Whenever possible, the HASC should issue<br />

the NAC a minimum <strong>of</strong> 51 days (for moves within UK) and 65 days (for moves to UK from<br />

overseas) prior to the accommodation required date, in order to ensure that there is<br />

sufficient time for the administration <strong>of</strong> the SSFA Application Form 1132A by the various<br />

agencies involved:<br />

a. The HASC sends Application Form 1132A to the applicant – 3 days<br />

b. Applicant completes the Form – 7 days<br />

c. Applicant returns the Form to the HASC – 3 days<br />

d. Processing by the HASC and forwarding to HASS – 5 days<br />

e. Processing by HASS and forwarding to the MOD Contractor – 5 days<br />

f. Administration by the contractor (identification and showing <strong>of</strong> properties) – 14<br />

days.<br />

g. Notice <strong>of</strong> address – whenever possible, 14 days (for moves within UK) and 28<br />

days (for moves from overseas).<br />

Delays in the issue <strong>of</strong> the NAC, or at any point thereafter in the process, may result in the<br />

applicant’s required date not being met. It should be noted that both HASS and the MOD<br />

Contractor have contracted periods to undertake their responsibilities (as above), however,<br />

every effort will be made to expedite the process.<br />

9. Application process. Personnel in receipt <strong>of</strong> a NAC are to complete Sections 1 – 5<br />

<strong>of</strong> the SSFA Application Form 1132A and send/fax it immediately to the appropriate<br />

HASC. The HASC is to complete Sections 6, 7 and 8 and forward the original <strong>of</strong> the Form<br />

by first class post (not by fax) to the HASS at Centurion who will complete Section 9<br />

(Unique Transaction Number), confirm that the Form has been correctly completed and<br />

task the MOD Contractor to provide accommodation to meet the requirement. HASS will<br />

also advise the authorising HASC that tasking has been initiated.<br />

10. Accommodation required date. Personnel moving within UK should annotate their<br />
