ecause it is imminently required for an entitled Service applicant, is due for upgrade,<br />

disposal or for any other pressing reason is to re-apply for a further surplus SFA at the<br />

appropriate priority.<br />

1008. Criteria for selection. All applicants must demonstrate a need for the<br />

accommodation and be willing to comply with the terms <strong>of</strong> the Licence or Tenancy/Lease<br />

Agreement as appropriate. The Local Service Commander/HASC is responsible for<br />

assessing the suitability <strong>of</strong> eligible personnel to occupy surplus SFA. In the case <strong>of</strong> civilian<br />

families, applications to occupy surplus SFA must be supported by evidence (from the<br />

applicant's previous landlord where appropriate) <strong>of</strong>:<br />

As at 13 Jul 12<br />

a. Regular rent payment and no outstanding rent arrears or charges.<br />

b. Compliance with the terms <strong>of</strong> the Licence or Tenancy Agreement.<br />

c. Previous good character.<br />

1009. Applications and allocations. In areas where demand exceeds supply, applicants<br />

will be placed on the appropriate waiting list in date order <strong>of</strong> assignment/date the<br />

accommodation is required and within each priority grouping. As suitable SFA become<br />

available, <strong>of</strong>fers will be made to applicants.<br />

1010. Occupation Agreements. Eligible occupants <strong>of</strong> temporarily surplus SFA are to<br />

sign the following occupation agreements:<br />

a. Service personnel. Service personnel occupying temporarily surplus SFA will<br />

be required to sign the Service Licence (as is the case for entitled personnel); see<br />

Chapter 2 Annex B.<br />

b. Civilian personnel. Lettings to civilian personnel will be made either through<br />

block leases with appropriate authorities or through individual tenancies (Assured<br />

Shorthold Tenancy or similar lease).<br />

1011. Size and type <strong>of</strong> SFA to be <strong>of</strong>fered. The allocations process will attempt to ensure<br />

a match between the SFA available (size, location and facilities), the needs <strong>of</strong> the<br />

applicant (e.g. size or mobility requirements), and their expressed wishes (e.g. location).<br />

Normally Service applicants will be <strong>of</strong>fered the Type <strong>of</strong> SFA appropriate to their rank,<br />

although requests for different sizes and types <strong>of</strong> SFA may be considered where suitable<br />

SFA is available. In the case <strong>of</strong> other applicants, the HASC will endeavour to meet the<br />

applicant's expressed wishes subject to availability.<br />
