� assist developing countries to reduce poverty, promote sustainable<br />

economic growth and recover from conflict or disasters (including<br />

development assistance and overseas student scholarships);<br />

� work in partnership with other governments, businesses, nongovernment<br />

organisations and international agencies;<br />

� foster links between the <strong>Australian</strong> community and the people of<br />

developing countries (including contributions to multilateral<br />

development banks and direct assistance packages).<br />

� undertake liaison activities to raise Australia's international profile;<br />

� support cultural exchange programs;<br />

� advocate the benefits of international business;<br />

� establish corporate networks and reciprocal visitor programs<br />

(including identifying and negotiating opportunities to promote<br />

� manage applications and renewals, provide advice and liaise with<br />

Justice involves providing, interpreting and applying legislation, regulations or by-laws; providing advice on<br />

regulations regarding the conduct of individuals, business and government to conform to agreed rules and<br />

principles; and supporting the operation of the justice system.<br />

� apply the body of law that relates to the executive functions of<br />

government;<br />

� establish the relationship between the government and the citizens<br />

of its jurisdiction;<br />

� advise on regulations regarding the powers, duties and<br />

organisation of public administration authorities.<br />

� apply the body of law that relates to companies or other<br />

organisations that have a distinct legal identity from that of their<br />

members;<br />

� advise on regulations regarding the formation, governance and<br />

dissolution of such organisations and the limits of their powers or<br />

liability.<br />
