� advise on interstate trade legislation, policy and protocols;<br />

� negotiate agreements that promote commerce between states and<br />

territories and encourage competition (including agreements on<br />

quarantine zones, transport and infrastructure arrangements in<br />

support of trade).<br />

� assist local businesses to compete in regional or international<br />

markets and win overseas or interstate contracts (including<br />

attracting investment to Australia, liaising with other governments<br />

and industry partners, and providing practical assistance such as<br />

identifying foreign investment partners and providing grants).<br />
