The project has been outsourced to a local software company that<br />
has initiated <strong>the</strong> work. It is expected that <strong>the</strong> complete software suite will<br />
be ready at <strong>the</strong> Ministry of In<strong>for</strong>mation Technology in <strong>the</strong> first quarter of<br />
2006, and replication can be initiated at o<strong>the</strong>r ministries shortly <strong>the</strong>reafter.<br />
IV. BENEFIT OF THE PROJECT<br />
The following are <strong>the</strong> key benefits both internal and external, which<br />
will be realized once e-government trans<strong>for</strong>mation is completed <strong>for</strong> a<br />
particular ministry.<br />
Internal benefits:<br />
• Improved organizational per<strong>for</strong>mance through streamlining of<br />
internal processes<br />
• Introduction of transparency in <strong>the</strong> provision of <strong>Government</strong><br />
services<br />
• Increased levels of online integration between different departments<br />
• Reduced levels of paper work within <strong>the</strong> ministries<br />
• Possible increase in revenues through introduction of additional<br />
fees or processing of higher number of transactions or <strong>the</strong><br />
provision of new services<br />
External benefits:<br />
• Improved levels of service to various communities (e.g. citizens,<br />
businesses) through faster service delivery cycles, reduced number<br />
of visits to <strong>the</strong> ministries <strong>for</strong> obtaining each service
