These combined studies helped evaluating thegeochemical homogeneity of the mineralizing fluids that formed the alterationenvelopes and the auriferous quartz veins in the entire area occupying theCOOC (~400 km long and ~60-80 km wide belt with a general NW-SEorientation).The mass balance study used the isocon statistical technique on 20 pairs ofmajor and trace element geochemical data from altered and fresh rock samples. The results show that the majority (>50%) of the altered host rocks are enrichedin K2O, PXC (H2O), W, Cu, Pb, Mo, Tl, Be, Zn, V, Sb, Ag, Sn, SiO2, Se, Ni y FeO,and are clearly depleted in Ca, Y, Na, Ho, Co, Sr, Yb, Mn, Dy, Er y Tb. The similarpattern of enrichment and depletion was shown by most of the studied samplessuggesting a high degree of geochemical homogeneity of the mineralizing fluids.Petrography on both the altered and fresh rocks indicates that the hydrothermalalteration primarily consisted of silicification, sericitization, chloritization, epidotization and pyritization. The analysis of bivariate correlation of Au andAg with other geochemical elements was done in auriferous quartz veins andshows a high positive correlation between these two precious elements andthe enriched elements shown by the mass balance study on the altered hostrocks. Therefore, this list of enriched elements could be utilized as a geochemicalexploration guide targeting orogenic gold deposits in the region.Multiple mineral inclusions were encapsulated in pyrite grains that were part ofthe paragenesis in the quartz veins. These small inclusions were detected usingSEM-EDS and reflected light microscopy and consisted of native gold and silver, galena, covelite, sphalerite, molybdenite, scheelite and tourmaline. Presence ofthese mineral occurrences explains most of the elemental anomalies obtainedgeochemically on the quartz veins and altered host rocks. The geochemical homogeneity of the mineralizing fluid identified in this studyimplies that the mineralization (Au-rich quartz veins) and associated alterationwere part of a large-scale event synchronous with the Laramide orogeny whencompressional tectonism was active during Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiarytime.GEOQP-8CARACTERIZACIÓN ISOTÓPICA DE 87SR/86SR DE SELENITASDE NAICA, CHIHUAHUA: EVIDENCIAS SOBRE EL ORIGEN DE LOSMEGACRISTALES Y SU RELACIÓN CON LAS ROCAS ENCAJONANTESCastro Ornelas Edgardo 1 , Martínez Serrano RaymundoG. 2 , Solís Pichardo Gabriela 2 y Briseño Prieto Sandra B. 21 Instituto de Investigaciones Metalúrgicas, UMSNH2 Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Méxicoed_ornelas@hotmail.comLa mina de Naica, productora de Pb-Ag-Zn; se ubicada en la parte centro-surde Chihuahua, aproximadamente a 120 km al SSE de la capital del estado.
