PROBLEMS OF CYBERCRIME
AND CYBERSECURITY

Development of computer technologies has brought not only progress, but
also many negative results. A lot of legal problems have arisen along with the
rapid growth of popularity of the Internet. Cybercrime is the most important issue
that is connected with the cyberspace. The founders of the Internet could not have
imagined that it would be used for criminal activities. At present the cybercrime
scales are being increased more and more and it already covers the whole planet.
Cybercrime – crime that is committed in the Internet space, where a computer
is either a victim or an instrument of a crime. Huge, unlimited Internet space that
connects millions of persons, is used illegally, to steal money, to spread
misinformation and to commit other criminal acts.
The article “Problems of Cybercrime and Cyber Security”discusses the strong
influence of the cybercrime – the challenge of the 21 st Century - on the world and
on Georgia and the mechanisms that are being used for the fight against it. It also
presents statistics that make it clear that there is a tendency of growth of this
category of crime. It gives certain recommendations for the protection against the
cybercrime so that unlimited mental abilities of individuals are used not to the
detriment but in favor of the public.
