ABSTRACT
In this study, the main goal consisted in the analysis of the author’s narrative as the
praxis of a discourse that surpasses the mere plan of the metaphysic reality, even
maintaining the inseparable links of its mediative instances. In this way, it was
identified in the social thematic underlined in the novel A paixão segundo G.H., not
only the indirect register of an episode which density would be circumscribed to the
sphere of an existentialist approach. Besides, without relegating that the
problematization of the social, in the same proportion, becomes confused with the
aesthetic issue, it was investigated, in the confluence of this thought, the motivations
which deflagrate in Clarice Inspector’s character its crisis of consciousness and,
consequently, the self­knowledge of its historical subjectivity.
