Explanation: see Fig. 1 Discussions Faunistical studies During the survey, a total number of 7214 specimens belonging to 257 species were collected with pitfall traps. Almost 22% of the Hungarian Staphylinid fauna can be collected in Hungarian apple and pear orchards. Altogether twenty species presented various relative abundances between the years, varied from 2% to 8% and these accounted for 56% of all staphylinids recorded in Hungarian apple and pear orchards. They were: Dinaraea angustula, Omalium caesum, Drusilla canaliculata, Sphenoma abdominale, Palporus nitidulus, Dexiogya corticina, Xantholinus linearis, Coprochara bipustulata, Mocyta orbata, Oligota pumilio, Platidracus stercorarius, and Xantholinus longiventris Most of the species mentioned in this study have been recorded as frequent in agricultural field by other authors throughout Western-Europe (Galli 1985, Reede 1985; Denis et al, 1990, Denis, 1991; Majzlan and Holecová, 1993; Wardle et al, 1993; Heyer, 1994; Booij et al., 1997; Knopp, 1997; Krooss and Schaefer, 1998; Andersen, 2000; Perner and Malt, 2002). The similarity studies The similarity studies of the staphylinid communities in differently treated apple orchards, considering the binary dates (Jaccard index) and the ratio scale dates (Horn log 10) shoves that the species composition in conventionally treated and in abandoned orchards were similar and the forming structure of species composition are highly influenced by the regions and less influenced by the pest management methods. The forming dominance (Horn) of the staphylinid species are also highly influenced by the geographical regions. 103 Conclusions The abundance of the Staphilinid beetle in orchards is deeply influenced by the insecticide overtaking. The similarity of the staphylinid communities are more influenced by geographical regions (climate, precipitation, vegetation structure) than the chemical pest management control. The community structures of the staphylinids are similar in high input insecticides and in abandoned orchards.
