If you got the right product at the right price, than you will grow<br />

Nissan Motor Company Ltd , usually shortened to Nissan , is a<br />

mult<strong>in</strong>ational automaker headquartered <strong>in</strong> Japan. It was a core<br />

member of the Nissan Group, but has become more <strong>in</strong>dependent<br />

after its restructur<strong>in</strong>g under Carlos Ghosn .<br />

Nissan was the sixth largest automaker <strong>in</strong> the world beh<strong>in</strong>d Toyota,<br />

General Motors, Volkswagen AG, Hyundai Motor Group, and Ford <strong>in</strong><br />

2010. It formerly marketed vehicles under the “Datsun” brand name. As of<br />

2011, the company’s global headquarters is located <strong>in</strong> Nishi-ku, Yokohama.<br />

In 1999, Nissan entered a two way alliance with Renault S.A. of France,<br />

which owns 43.4% of Nissan while Nissan holds 15% of Renault shares, as<br />

of 2008. <strong>Al</strong>ong with its normal range of models, Nissan also produces a<br />

range of luxury models branded as Inf<strong>in</strong>iti. The Nissan VQ eng<strong>in</strong>es, of V6<br />

configuration, have been featured among Ward’s 10 Best Eng<strong>in</strong>es for 14<br />

straight years. <strong>Al</strong> <strong>Bayan</strong> Magaz<strong>in</strong>e had the opportunity to meet the Senior<br />

Vice president of Nissan <strong>in</strong>ternational Trevor Mann and conducted <strong>this</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>terview with him.<br />

* What is the purpose beh<strong>in</strong>d your visit to Lebanon<br />

I am relatively new to <strong>this</strong> region and it was important for me to understand<br />

more of it and Lebanon is an important country for us. We’ve got a long history<br />

<strong>in</strong> Lebanon and a strong relationship with Rymco, our excellent dealer<br />

distributor here. Globally, Nissan is aim<strong>in</strong>g for market share <strong>in</strong>crease and it is<br />

thus important to understand how we do th<strong>in</strong>gs on a local market level and<br />

how we can work better together and support Rymco <strong>in</strong> terms of grow<strong>in</strong>g our<br />

brand strength and presence <strong>in</strong> <strong>this</strong> country and obviously the <strong>Al</strong>tima launch<br />

was the ideal opportunity to come and visit Lebanon.<br />

* Will the price of Nissan <strong>Al</strong>tima 2013 suit all the Lebanese<br />

- Nissan, <strong>in</strong> all countries, is consistent to offer the right products at the right<br />

price that excites our customers and the <strong>Al</strong>tima 2013 is the product for the<br />

market. We always need to rema<strong>in</strong> competitive but what is important is that<br />

we stick strong to our pr<strong>in</strong>ciples <strong>in</strong> terms of what we believe that we offer our<br />

customers and their <strong>in</strong>novation and excitement. <strong>Al</strong>tima 2013 is <strong>in</strong> a very good<br />

price position with<strong>in</strong> <strong>this</strong> market and no matter how much competition there is<br />

<strong>in</strong> any market, if you got the right product at the right price, than you will grow<br />

and we believe that with <strong>Al</strong>tima, we’ve got that formula.<br />

* Can you tell us how Lebanon is be<strong>in</strong>g l<strong>in</strong>ked to Nissan Power 88 Plan <br />

- We certa<strong>in</strong>ly want Lebanon to cont<strong>in</strong>ue to grow and to contribute to our global<br />

market share objective which is 8%. When we look at Nissan global position,<br />

some countries, such as Lebanon, have already over-achieved the 8%<br />

market share target, but they contribute to Nissan global objective. We want<br />

to grow Nissan Brand everywhere <strong>in</strong> the world without los<strong>in</strong>g the equity<br />

awareness and strong hold. In addition to <strong>this</strong>, we have competitive export<br />

basis <strong>in</strong> Thailand, India, Indonesia and Mexico, so we will have our most competitive<br />

products to match the market and satisfy our customers.<br />

* What is your message to the Lebanese Market<br />

Lebanon seems a very vibrant and excit<strong>in</strong>g country and s<strong>in</strong>ce Nissan makes<br />

also very excit<strong>in</strong>g products we believe they both can make a perfect match<br />

which will reflect positively on the Lebanese customers.<br />
