This option includes:<br />
� installing new 110 kV GIS;<br />
� new protection and control equipment;<br />
� disposing of existing switchgear and protection and control equipment; and<br />
� demolishing redundant buildings.<br />
The <strong>capital</strong> cost of this option is $26.62 million ($June 2007).<br />
7.5.2 BENEFITS<br />
This option has the following benefits:<br />
� addresses all of the issues in Section 4;<br />
� requires minimal outages for implementation;<br />
� it reduces the ongoing maintenance requirements and costs associated with the site through:<br />
o a reduction in number of circuit breakers;<br />
o a reduction in the number of disconnectors;<br />
o simplification of protection and control schemes;<br />
o rationalisation of infrastructure (post insulators, gantry structures, bus conductors etc.)<br />
� improves the operational flexibility of the site;<br />
� reduces the overall footprint and visual impact of the site;<br />
� allows for some future expansion of the site; and<br />
� allows for rationalisation of auxiliary equipment.<br />
7.5.3 DRAWBACKS<br />
Drawbacks of this option include:<br />
� future expansion costs may be higher than AIS equivalent.<br />
7.5.4 CONCLUSION<br />
This option is technically viable.<br />
7.6 OPTION 6 - REDEVELOP USING HYBRID SWITCHGEAR<br />
7.6.1 SCOPE<br />

This option includes the replacement, rationalisation and reconfiguration of 110 kV assets at Creek Road Substation<br />
using hybrid switchgear. This option includes redeveloping the site using a double bus arrangement as presented in<br />
option 3.<br />
The scope for is the same as option 3, but includes the use of hybrid switchgear in lieu of AIS.<br />
The <strong>capital</strong> cost of this option is $26.62 million ($June 2007).<br />
7.6.2 BENEFITS<br />
� This option has similar benefits to option 3.<br />
