<strong>OfficeScan</strong> provides a location awareness feature that determines whether a client’s<br />

location is internal or external. Location awareness is leveraged in the following<br />

<strong>OfficeScan</strong> features and services:<br />

The client’s location determines the web reputation policy<br />

that the client will apply. Administrators typically enforce<br />

a stricter policy for external clients.<br />

For clients that use smart scan, the client’s location<br />

determine the smart protection source to which clients<br />

send scan queries.<br />

External clients send scan queries to Smart Protection<br />

Network while internal clients send the queries to the<br />

sources defined in the smart protection source list.<br />
