During this year, a supreme effort has been made by Chilean Baptists to
win at least one thousand souls for Christ. Statistics are not yet available so
that we may know whether or not this goal was reached, but we do know that
in the forty-eight churches, the spirit shown among the pastors and workers
has been favorable.
WOMEN'S WORK
Mrs. R. C. Moore, in telling of the work of the Woman's Missionary Union,
says:
"Soul winning has characterized W.M.U. work in Chile during this year, in
a sincere attempt to co-operate in the effort to win a thousand souls for Christ.
The Week of Prayer in the fall was used as a campaign to get unconverted
people to read the Gospel of Mark and to pray for their conversion. The
evening services of six W.M.U. institutes were dedicated to evangelistic efforts.
"We are continually increasing our efforts toward evangelizing and training
the children of our homes and communities. Through weekly meetings of
Sunbeam Bands, R.A.'s, and G.A.'s, and vacation Bible schools in the summer,
we reach over three thousand children with constant Bible training.
"Repeatedly during the year, in institutes and associational meetings, the
women have expressed their gratitude and love toward the W.M.U. of the South
which so sacrificially sends offerings and missionaries, making possible the
preaching of the gospel in Chile."
Miss Ethel Singleton is director of R.A. and G.A. work in Chile. She tells us:
"This, our newest phase of the W.M.U. work, continues to grow and prove
a blessing. We are grateful to Miss Rachel Colvin and the World Comrades
Department for the lovely Spanish certificates sent us. This year we had
three coronation and recognition services in which five queens were crowned and
five more were presented with scepters. We recognized seven Ambassadors."
YOUNG PEOPLE'S ACTIVITIES
Christ did much of his teaching beside the Sea of Galilee and the River
Jordan. Chileans, too, have found the beautiful beaches and clear-watered
rivers conducive to study and soul winning. This has been proved true by the
