WHAT OF THE FUTURE?
There is every reason to believe that 1946 should prove to be the greatest
year for Sunday school growth in the history of Southern Baptists.
The following items of enlargement are being vigorously promoted this year:
1. Start one or more additional classes.—The enrolment in Southern Baptist
Sunday schools averages ten people for each worker. Each new class could add
ten persons to your Sunday school enrolment.
2. Organize one or more additional departments.—Additional departments
will distribute responsibility, reach more people, and increase the efficiency of
any school.
3. Promote regular visitation.—Regular visitation will provide needed information,
develop helpful relationships, increase attendance, improve teaching,
and add to the evangelistic opportunities.
4. Establish a new Sunday school—A new Sunday school will provide the
spiritual blessings to people not now being reached.
June has been designated as NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL MONTH.
Realizing that there are thousands of places in the Southern Baptist Convention
where Sunday schools should be established, the emphasis on branch
Sunday schools is vital.
These four items on enlargement have received a major emphasis in ail
twenty of the state planning meetings; in the associational meeting, January 22;
in all churches where associational teams visited.
They will receive major emphasis in the two Sunday School Weeks at Ridgecrest
and in the Southwide and statewide Sunday school clinics.
