YOUNG PEOPLE'S DEPARTMENT
R. MAINES RAWLS, Director of Young People's Work
Definite marks of progress were recorded in the Young People's departm
in 1945:
The circulation of the Baptist Young People's Union Quarterly increase
175,391 the fourth quarter. 1945. This also indicates an increase in membership.
Standard unions and departments increased above the preceding year's
record.
Study course awards to Young People gained by 9,000.
Reports of new unions increased by 30 per cent.
Returning servicemen and women and a return to peace furnished the key
to much of the work of this department during the year. New tracts were provided,
a new associational youth emphasis promoted, and Youth Week received
additional attention and promotion. These were sponsored in addition to the
regular work of the department.
Two new study course books for Young People were published: Our Baptis
Heritage, by J. Clyde Turner, and The March of Missions, by Inabelle Grave
Coleman.
Present trends indicate that this department mav anticipate a return t
prewar level by the middle of 1947.
L. • INTERMEDIATE DEPARTMENT
VERSIL S. CRENSHAW, Director of Intermediate Work
Never before has the report of the Intermediate department revealed mor
in attainment and challenge than the report of 1945. The increases have come
at a time when many forces were allied against Christian influences in the lives of
boys and girls. A careful analysis of the facts reveals the following:

Standard unions: 1944, 273; 1945, 294
Standard departments: 1944, 11; 1945, 23
